Unhappy Could it be My Tranny

When driving at low speeds (10-25mph) I can feel a sudden jerk in the car whenever i raise my foot off the gas pedal. When i hit the gas again i also feel the same jerk. My car is less than 3 WEEKS OLD :wow: As my speed increases I feel no jerks of any kind. What the hell is going on????????

Dude, I got the same thing, my car is just 4 weeks old, I was told by others not to worry, but it can't hurt to get it checked out, and if you do, let me know the explanation for it please.

It doesn't hurt to get it check out at the dealer. That's what a warranty is for.

Who you planning on taking the car to? How jerky is it? I am always paranoid... I don't think there is a jerk but I don't know if it is just something slight =) You could always give me a ride...

Everyone - Please Call 1-800-4-A-ACURA and log the issue with Acura hdqts.

Mine is doing it too, but at all speeds and various times. They are trying to tell me its normal. Not a good answer. I've brought it in 2 times in the first 30 days and the 3rd time is coming very soon, then I'm off to the Lemon Law path.

I am going back to Acura of Manhattan (that's where i got it). And if they tell me that there is nothing wrong I am making sure I get it in writing and signed by someone so when the $hit hits the fan, I'll have them to blame.

Then "JERK" is kind of like a slight jump the RPM'S don't change (up or down) the car just jumps forward in the range of 10-30mph when my foot is lifted off the pedal and also when i hit the pedal again. I put the car in SS and noticed it only happens in 2nd Gear. In 3rd Gear everything is smooth. I'm going to call them today and see whats up..... I'll Keep all of you posted

Doesn't necessarily sound like the tranny ... It actually does sound normal. I'm trying to remember exactly what speeds the TL does it, but there are times when I let off the gas, and the car decides to "engine brake" to slow the car down ... It makes you feel like there is a sudden jerk because the car slows down, and there is a change in RPMs because the car chooses a lower gear to attain higher rpms and slow the car down. I also know at around 40mph in D5 you have the constant "problem" of the torque converter locking/unlocking which makes the car feel very jerky as well ... Thats the car's attempt to save gas at 40mph, but if you are going up and down in speed around 40mph then it does that..

If you're worried, take it into the dealer, but I think this is actually the way the car works.

My car is at Acura Manhattan right now because of tranny problems. They stink. They are telling me that my AEM intake is causing the TPS to tell the computer the wrong innformation and that I should have updated the computer when I installed the intake. It makes no sense. I would stay away from them. I scheduled an appointment on Monday with Park Avenue Acura. I spoke to them on the phone and they had no idea what the service rep was talking about. They said he made no sense. Good luck.
