This could be an interesting visit to the dealer...

I registered on acura.com yesterday for me 2 day old TL-S, i saw one of the recall (back in 2002 for trans warranty ext)status being open so i proceed to click to schedule an appointment. I called the dealer to confirm the appointment and they seemed to be ok with that and no questions asked. My questions is that do they actually see what work they need to do or just know a car is coming in? It would be nice if the dealer can take a look at the transmission for us - no signs of failure so far, and about 30K miles after the previous owners "fix", i wonder what they will do for us?

Anyone experienced this before?

If the oil jet was installed, all they will do now is test the transmission. If it is shifting/working correctly nothing will be done. If they find it slips or the ECU gives a code they will replace it.

What is your mileage?

No, lets hope they find something and give you a free transmission. There is a 90% chance if that is the original trans, or one replaced before 2/05 it will fail on you.

first off-- was the recall done to install the external oil jet kit?

second--acura does not hand out transmissions unless its failed!!!!
Make an appt?
They will charge you 100 bucks to say its seems to be fine at this time~
the appt is simply a 10 minute block of time for a service writer to help you,,not a tech
to look a the car
If you have symptoms as listed in the warranty extension- found on azine or acura.com or google...then get it in- if not, drive it and enjoy

Yes some post 2005 trans still fail- just not as many

if you are going in for the recall- a tech does use a boroscope to inspect for certain internal heat damage--thats instant free replacement trans

all this info is contained in the gen2 thread Tranny Failure and on your acura.com account

do some reading people!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw the recall install is an external part and is not the real issue we have with the trans,,its just a band-aid
