Question cost for scratch repair

when i bought my car it had a key scratch along basically the whole drivers side and on the hood. the seller took off more than it would cost to fix it from the selling price. if he fixed it i wouldnt have had enough money to pay for it so i bought it scratched. i wanna get it fixed though because now its getting really sunny and it stands out more. ive tried using touchup paint and that didnt really help at all. about how much would it cost to have a scratch the width of a key that is on the hood, front fender, front door, rear door, and back fender? i cant really get any pictures of it because for some reason it doesnt show up good enough.

Just call some body shops and see what they tell you. More times than not you'll have to repaint the entire panel. How deep is the scratch?

its down to the metal. i tried to touch it up a bit with some touch up paint. all that really did was put some paint on the metal so now the scratch isnt that grayish metal color and is the color of my car. but it is still noticeable and after trying the touch up paint i have really no other choice put to try and get it repaired.

Call some body shops or turn it over to your insurance company. Got to a few body shops and see what they are even talking about doing. Take it from there.

scratches eh?

i wouldn't do this if your scared... maybe you can try what i did with painting my rear lip..

after i did my final clear coat on my rear lip, i let it dry for a day. it was dull
so then i wetsanded it down with 2000 grit.
then dried it off and used some 3m rubbing compound and got rid of most scratches..
then i used megs paint cleaner.
the megs polish.
and megs carnuba wax to finish.
looks brand new

just a try. i'm going to try this on my trunk to see if i can save my trunk from all those scratches.
