Coolant reservoir hole??

Hey acurazine, I have a question about our coolant reservoirs. I noticed there is a small hole where the cap screws on and i’ve kinda sealed it with electrical tape. Are these holes necessary?? thanks

Yes. I’ve replaced my reservoir and noticed 2 small holes where the cap screws on. I sealed them and was wondering if they are supposed to be there.

An OEM reservoir does not have '2 small holes where the cap screws on.' At least mine does not.

Sorry, I’m referring to the aftermarket one. My oem one has only 1 hole in the same area. It’s not that big of a deal I was just wondering if it was detrimental to the performance of the hose.

Can you provide a part # or Brand name to cross-reference whether it is compatible with your particular TL?

Sure, this is the part # for the aftermarket one - 19101P8EA01, AC3014108. Replaces OEM part #19101P8EA01. It’s from carparts.com

Well, the only picture I can find showing the top of the reservoir, is on the link below; however, I can't see the 'holes' that you mention.
You may have a defective part.

Post a picture, if possible. Both of my '03 2G CL's share the 19101P8EA01 part number and they are hole free.

I just looked at the part on Carparts, I don't see any holes. My '01 has no holes either.

Bear in mind that this bottle is not pressurized so the fluid level can change without creating pressure/vacuum. Perhaps they are vent holes? Or perhaps a defect as Zeta suggests.
