is this considered salvaged title?

hi i have an 00 tl with an aftermarket bumper and impact absorber. (I messed it up a while back and didnt report it to insurance). Does that mean the warranty is voided? (i was reading on the acura ownerlink that if u use aftermarket parts your warranty is voided)

my 7yr/110k warrnty just passed and i am getting hard shifting from my tranny lately. I was reading on acura link that my car has never been fixed under the 2002 recall (something about the 2nd gear wearing out). It says that the transmission might be replaced. Think i can get a new tranny outta that??

thz in advance for opinions

^I'll follow up then. They can only void a warranty if they can prove that what you did or that the aftermarket parts caused the problem. I've never heard of an aftermarket bumper voiding a warranty, I can't even think of a valid reason they could void one for that; dealers have been known to be crafty when it comes to screwing you out of stuff though, so I wouldn't put it past them to try.

If you're close enough to 109k or within 115k and your VIN number is within the specified recall range then you might be able to find a dealer to replace it under the recall...you may have to ask nice since it passed 100k.

your car doesnt have a salvaged title on it unless an insurance company totals it out, or its been sent to a salvage yard and repaired. Replacing your bumper will not cause it to be salvaged.

As for your trans, the RECALL was only to add a oiljet. If under inspection they find excessive discoloration on the 2nd gear shaft they will replace it (but very very very very few have had that) you can bring it in and have it added (why you haven't already is beyond me) Your close enough to the cut off where they (if they find it to be failing) will most likely good will it. READ some of the other tranny threads for more info

Having the recall taken care of will do NOTHING for your current tranny. If you were having NO symptoms then it would be fine. You have to mention the hard shifting problem. The recall only takes care of 1 problem (2nd gear overheating) What you most likely are experiencing is (3rd gear clutch pack wear)

Dealer doesn't care whose name it is under. You could probably take in a stolen car and they would still fix it.
