Consequenses of removing EGR valve?
#3
umm yeah....why are you removing your EGR? EGR valve is used to lower NOx emission levels and I'm pretty sure ITS ILLEGAL to remove, even if its not you will get problems with your car. like your engine stopping, knocks, overheating, failing your emission test.

The purpose of an EGR valve is to reroute exhaust gases to the intake manifold at high rpm...So that takes away horsepower and fills up the intake with burnt and dirty exhaust gases which over time can build up to nasty carbon deposits and causes the engine to lose performance and reliability! Some people gain extra horsepower at top end end by removing their EGR valve and it does not cause the engine to run rough..! I dont kno if its illegal here in Massachusetts...but whose gonnna kno?? But i was asking if it would mess up the engines computer system?

I'm not sure on ours but I used to screw an allen head screw into the vacume line that actuates the valve. I wouldn't remove. Since valve never gets opened, no exhaust gas gets pumped in to heat up intake mixture. The down side is that you can carbon up the passage and make it ineffective in case you need to smog motor. Smog checks in CA check operation of EGR valve.
