computer in car

I asked this a several weeks ago, but didn't get an answer. Don't want to beat a dead horse, but thought I'd try it again:

Has anyone put a computer in their car for playing MP3's? I'm thinking of doing this to the TL I'm going to buy. I would like to see if anyone has experience with this. Specifically, I'm interested in where/how the equipment is mounted.

thanks,

toby.

Ok dude are you really going to put a big ass computer in your car, just to listen to Mp3's? Can you imagine driving down the road and messing with the computer There are several things you can do to hear Mp3's in the car. Try getting a portable Mp3 player and hooking up some of those little sony speakers

Or, if you have a CD-R drive, pick up a CD/MP3 player like the Philips Expanium, MamboX, or Rio Volt and use a cassette adapter. Then you can burn hundreds of MP3s per CD-R. It's a whole lot easier and cheaper.

Yeah, what they said...
I've had an mp3 cd player since I got my TL. I just hook up the power from the console and use a tape adapter. The quality is not the best, but it's sufficient.

Re: computer in car

Have you tried checking here mp3car.com? Its for building computers and stuff for car use...

I know LarryB tried the computer route but soon gave up... Some of us, myself included, went the NEO35 route instead.

Either way, its a lot of work and $$$.

Yes a friend of mine with a V6 Camry has a complete computer mobo and power supply with an LCD display and numeric keypad.

I'll find his website and post a link later...

just by the apex md-100 its a dvd/cd/vcd/mp3 player. and has a remote, remote extender, car adapter, 12volt connection. all it you'll need is a rf modulator and an optional navi-dvd to if you want to use the dvd/vcd functions. We tried it in PhiTL's care w/ my md-100 and it was pretty cool.
