umm it would be fun. but what is it 50 hp? is 50 hp worth $4270 to you? if the extra 50 ponnies are go for it. If I were to get one for free, I wouldnt put it on cause our tranny suck. But once again I do a lot of drving and not a lot of racing. If it wasnt for our trans I would still invest more on a custom turbo...
i heard that there is a tranny kit that you can install which replaces all the gears. it's called level 10 or something like that. it's made out of kevlar and it's made to withstand alot of beating. it comes with everything to rebuild the tranny. my friend installed it in his car and supercharged it, no problems yet.
Don't forget .. yeah it's only 50hp .. but there is also a considerably amount of TORQUE that you get... plus the power is added in a very broad distribution .. unlike headers which, theoretically yield you 32hp ('cording to CT's website) but only after 5000rpms and for only a brief 200rpm peak...
The s/c is well worth it in the performance category... can the tranny handle it?? No one really knows for sure .. Comptech will tell you all day that tranny failures in the TL/CL are due to an intrinsic malfunction w/in the tranny that's separate from the amount of load/power it must handle. Most people feel that the tranny issue is due to the 2nd to 3rd gear shifting (which actually occurs QUITE frequently during city driving) ..
I tend to believe the tranny can handle it .. Comptech claims they have several test vehicles, Accords and TL's/CL's .. all autos.. that have had the s/c on for over a year and a 1/2 w/o any problems. They highly recommend the tranny cooler . which i think is extra money from that group buy price... the tranny cooler lowers the temp by over 70 degrees.. which is pretty considerable for long-term tranny wear.
If you can afford it.. i say get it. On the CL forum, a TL owner posted that the Acura dealership replaced his tranny under the 100K warranty w/o hassle despite his installed s/c. They did however charge him about $300.00 for labor b/c they had to manipulate parts of the s/c to access the transmission.
not a bad deal. Contact your local acura dealership... hell, contact all the dealerships in the state to see who is more inclined to help you out when you have warranty issues w/ and installed comptech supercharger.

I'm not saying don't get it... but I will say that that price is not that good at all. There are many sites selling the S/C for less.... some for $200 or more less.... this site being one of them.
Snapple, someone actually asked that on acl.com and the answer was no... it would not fit and you need to use the Icebox. Not sure of the details... but that was the majority of the responses.

skmtrk: I don'tthink that is a good price...Go ti a-cl.com and look for a member called DeansCL-S (or something close to that, used to be DeansblueSI--I've suddenly forgotten)...Anyway, I think he gets the kit for less than $4k shipped...Either way, he'll beat any price on parts...
Comptech is actually coming out with a piggyback ECU for the CL-S and TL-S with the auto tranny that will provide more hp and change some shifting points. This will not be sent free if you order the sc now. I'm personally kinda waiting on that--probably another two months or so they are saying...
I'm figuring the sc will be a nice xmas present for myself!

I have installed a bunch if those superchargers myself. And if you check my gallery you will see that I DONT have one. Not worth the money. It is a really nice unit and they give you EVERYTHING you need. I just dont see it worth the money. I am probably going to roll with NOS if I do anything at all. More bang for the buck. Oh and add like 3hrs to ANYTHING you do on the front of the engine. The whole blower assembly needs to come off access pretty much anything in the front of the motor. If anyone wants to see pix I have them. I took a bunch of the CLS I did a couple months ago. Its the same set up. And as far as the tranny goes.....the little note that comes with the SC advises you to purchase an additional trans cooler kit lol. hmmmmmm...now why would they say that????
