Comptech Supercharger Kit Out Next Week!!

Just got of the horn with one of the guys over at comptech and he told me that the full supercharger kit for the TL is due out next week. He said that they will provide dyno numbers and what not at time of release. The price is around $4495.00 and it includes everything you need to install and run it correctly. I asked him if there was a need to get the AEM or other standaloe computer and he said that it works quite well with the stock ecu. I cant wait to get my hands on one.

I just want to see the dyno numbers on that thing.... You would have to do sooooo much to the motor to compensate for the power of that supercharger, it could get really freakin expensive...

Why would u ever wanna spend that much money on a supercharger that would increase HP by like 70-100HP??? With that money u could have the engine rebuilt with higher compression, performance cams, upgraded ECU, port n polished heads, and much more with $4,500 at ur disposal...! I know my stuff when it comes to this...The supercharger for that price is definitely not worth it! Maybe if the price was somewhere around $2,500..then i would say it would be a decent buy!

umm granite..w/ a supercharger you dont just gain the initial 70-100hp, it also expands what you can do later on by a LOT. After s/c a car, a new exhaust adds LOADS of hp, same goes for headers. You can also crank up the boost, although this would require additional safeguarding mods. Point being that forced induction is the most efficient way to add hp.

Well of course forced induction is the most efficient way to add HP to a car besides Nitrous..Let's say i put a s/c on my car and have full exhaust, headers, intake. im up by like an xtra 160HP give or take..Still..Spending nearly $5,000 to get that much is really not worth it..! I might b wrong but thats what i think..! How much HP can the transmission handle b4 blowing out??? That is another cause for concern!

I wonder how the comptech TL test car is holding up? It must have "that" redesigned trany in it. Hmmm.

Man let me tell you, if I wasn't gettin ready to buy a house, I would put in the first order. Granite, you make it sound like 160 hp is 16 hp. That TL would be a beast! You would be able to toast almost anything out there. There is the question on the tranny which cannot be denied. But some people's trannies are blowin that don't even red line. A TL at its price plus the cost of a s/c would still be a bargain in my eyes.-Nard

From what I've heard the only problem with the comptech car was that the transmission fluid was getting too hot, a problem that was solved by the use of a oil cooler. I am very tempted to get one.

To some of us, its worth the 5K to do it. That plus the tranny intercooler. I mean, look at what Astroboy spent on his TL. He spent more on the mods then he did on the car. Its worth it to some people. Becides, the idea of a TL that will FRY almost everything else, is pretty appealing.

Granted, i wont be buying one, i still have to pay the 3G's for my sound system on my credit card

or you could just buy a car worth supercharging...like a cobra

4G's is what I spent for my blower (that price is pretty much standard for mustangs etc, but i'm new to the whole import...)...and I have no regrets at all!

The supercharger is too late I.M.O. A lot of us have high milage/deteriorating transmissions. If I was an owner of a TL-S w/ low milage I probably would get one.

You guys should really see about a Supercharger from Rippmods
They supercharged my Galant and Im happy with the results, Im beating Bmw330ci's I know you Acura guys probably do that on a regular basis but for a 4cyl Galant thats not half bad.

www.rippmods.com is the site if you guys are interested.

Deansblue on acura-cl.com should be able to get you the S/C for 4K or a little less. I think it would be worth it to get the dealer to install it so you keep your warranty. One guy on a-cl got his installed at park ave acura and it cost him $1,000 (10-12 hours labor). For 5K though you could create a custom turbo that would provide a lot more horsepower and torque. The only downside is turbo lag. The supercharger won't have any kind of lag and it will have plenty of low end horsepower which our cars desperatly need.

Yeah it would be pretty sick to be smoking nice cars all day long with your 4 door sedan Just imagine the humiliation of the other driver... It would almost be worth the money just to see the looks on their faces! LOL

Do you guys think that there would have to be alot of assistance modding inorder for this supercharger to work?? I think there would have to be. When he said that the kit was complete with everything you needed to use it, you think that means it comes with some parts to strengthen some particular parts?? I sure hope so, for 4500 bucks...
