what is the offset of your rims? You said that you had 3 people in the back of your TL without rims and without springs and it rubbed a little?
I have Comptech springs and the stock tire/rim setup and i had 3 people in the back the other day and there was no rubbing.

I installed the front springs first just to see how it would look without droping the back and it was very obvious that something had to be done to the back as the gap was much larger than the front. Its going to look wierd if you leave the back springs stock.

I have no problem with comp springs
I have no problems with the comptech springs had them in the car for over a year drove it with stock rims, 18" by 8" Racing Hart C5 with a 52 offset w/225/40/18 and 17" by 7" Volk Racing GT-P with a 44 offset and 225/45/17 and had up to 6 people in my TL and no rub at all

I have Comptech springs for over 2 years now and I have 18 X 7.5 with +42 offset. I've had 5 full adults in my car before and no rubbing.
In one of my conversations with Mike B@Comptech, he told me one of the reasons why they make the Comptech lowering springs for the TL to have a slightly raked look is because in case we do put passengers in the back that our TL would not look like the rear is sagging.
I think you might have the wrong offset because if it is rubbing already without lowering springs, it WILL rub when you put in Comptech springs.

Or was it after dinner??
Ok call me ignorant.. but this rubbing that occurs.. where exactly will it rub with or without springs?? The fenderwell? Shocks?
btw, how are your shocks after 2 years of springs? Don't they wear out faster with the springs??

I have 28000 miles and the shocks seem fine. My car doesn't bounce all over the road after a bump. I can tell it got alittle stiffer but still very smooth.

Roll your fenders and make sure you get an Alignment. If you car has too much positive toe in the rear it'll wear out your tires faster and it'll rub as well. That's the problem I had. Simple alignment fixed the rubbing. But then again..I'm running 225/45/17 +40
