Comptech Icebox

The Icebox comes with a foam reusable style air filter in it (like k&N). Anybody concerned with the filtering ability of this foam filter? Anyone done oil analysis before and after having one? I know k&n's dont filter as well as paper filters added to the pain-n-the-azz of cleaning...reoiling...hoping you don't get too much oil and foul sensors...

I'm a little concerned about adding one to an engine with the tight tolerances we have.

Do they make a paper replacement filter ?

My theory was .. if CT built it .. they knew what was up.. Technically, the oil-based foam filters are BETTER at removing debris/dust/dirt from the incoming air than any standard paper filter, and perhaps even better than a K&N .. hard to tell since there is no empirical data to suggest that..

I've been meaning to email CT about the whole cleaning process regarding my icebox ..

anyone know what mileage i need to clean the filter at?

Thanks for the reply Peter, I may call them directly too. In the diesel world the paper filters (like Donaldson) do better than any of the oil based. Some of these guys are intense, they send there oil of for testing every oil change, inspect turbo impellers, etc.

What I like about the aftermarket paper filters for my truck is I can through them out put a new one in done. No cleaning, no oiling and potential fouled sensors......basically I'm lazy
