You should wait and see what the performance numbers are from an independent dyno. Who knows, maybe CT might have a better design that yields more power than an AEM or Injen. The price is a little pricier...but if it can produce better power, you might want to get this instead, not only of more power, but less chance of engine hydrolock due to the design of the Icebox...would be easier to change the filter and plus since it's CT, the dealer maybe more friendly towards it.

I usually love comptech parts, but the icebox is just too overpriced for what it is. Gains from an intake are minimal, at best, and I just couldn't justify spending 300 bucks on an intake that does basically the same thing as the stock airbox without the resonator---give or take 1hp.

I just ordered the Icebox for $240 shipped so I will probably be selling my Weapon-R shortram soon. The reason I like the Icebox is it looks OEM, no hydrolocking and it will pass smog in CA.

Of course...a lot of CT's stuff is quite pricey...I agree with you. But what your paying for along with that price is freedom of mind that your not going to get hydrolock in your engine. Think of it this way, the bypass valve on the CAI looks wierd and out of place IMHO, but for $35 is the safety of mind for a $6000 engine. With that safety, you lose power. On the other hand, CT has developed the icebox that doesn't need a bypass valve and performs up to a CAI...hopefully.
