Comptech Headers buzzing?!?!

Hey everyone.
I just installed the headers myself and when I drive it around, I get this buzzing sound. Is it normal for the car to break in the headers or do i have to torque the bolts? Any suggestions?? Thanks.

that may be the dreaded resonance. but with CT headers, your chances of that problem would be small. anyway, it may well be w/tightening all bolts. i know installing headers alone is a challenge bec i've done it. it's hard to work in tight spaces even w/the right tools. also, when you installed the headers did you tighten the bolts starting from middle of the flange and work your way to the ends?

Definetly a problem with tightening bolts...actually to be more presice: You NEED to get under the car again and bolt up the Downpipe/header bolts (all 6of em) and it WILL get rid of the resonance. i'm sure you tightened the top ones fine.

I just did the same thing with my OBX SS headers which apparently the resonance causes the bolts to loosen and cause more resonance. I tightened them bolts and let me tell you that i wish i'd done this 6months ago!!

Yea i did that cause my friend told me to do that first then work your way up to the headers. I'm not sure but it seems that the resonance is gone. I can barely hear it now outside my car. But I'm going to take it to a mechanic shop and get the bolts retightened. See if that's the problem.

The three on the front and three on the back that connect the headers to the downpipe. You'll probably need two people for this. dont be afraid of kneeling ontop of the engine and reaching down under the strut bar!!

most likely this is your problem since they are so hard to reach and tend to not get tightened enough....*note from personal experience in 2TL and 1CL!
