Comptech Headers

I was wondering if comptech headers reduce the gas mileage for the car. Any help will be appreciated.

I believe the answer is no. I dont speak from personal experience, however I think this issue has previously been discussed in other forums.

Rice is absolutely correct. Increased scavenging effect on the cylinders = better breathing for the engine. Makes it more efficient and thus increases gas mileage.... So will a low restriction air filter. The only drawback is you wont keep your big right foot out of the gas enough to realize the gas mileage increase!

I had them on my 2000TL for several months and have had them on my TL-S for almost 2 months now and don't really notice a difference either way during normal driving. However, as has been said before, you tend to floor it a lot more often to it's hard to tell.

there are no DC Sports headers for us..

its either OBX (cheapest, can get a good one for 200 bucks, but many people complain about them)
Megans (not too many problems, pretty cheap too. 200-250)
Alphawerks (DO NOT GET THESE, there are some major problems with this brand right now)
Comptechs (Best you can possibly get for more money. but what you pay for is what you get)

im currently running OBX, i bought it used plus i had it on for over a year now. still running strong. my friend also has OBX and he had it for over 2 1/2 years, his is still giving him the same performance since he first put it on. If you get lucky, obx's arent that bad at all to get. but if you get the wrong set, youre gonna be going through hell

good luck

theoretically they all give the same HP increases.. fitment and sound tend to fluxuate from brand to brand due to different metals used, company, porcedure etc..

Don't forget Stone SS Headers(300-350). I have had mine for well over a year and they still look like new(other than obvious bronzing) and performace gain was awesome. I recommend Stone to anyone that has a TL. Comptech is better only because there is no resonance or very little, but other than a little resonance from my Stones they are perfect headers.

They are all just pipes. They are all the same diameter because they are all copied off of Comptech's.

Comptech's headers are the only headers out there that do not experience issues with resonance, fitment, and finish/fitment. You get what you pay for. PM me for prices on Comptech headers.
