Did anyone notice things like this when they received there headers? Maybe I'm just being super anal, but it looks like the a lot welds "bled" through the tube. These spots also feel like they are thinner or weaker than the rest of the tube. This same thing is also present where the hanger is welded near the flex joint, but its hard for me to take a picture of that part.
Did everyone else's headers look like this or should I be concerned?
Also, does this 3 to 1 joint look right to you?

Man--mine did not look like that at all. Everything was smooth all the way around. For a cool grand I would check this out with Comptech--they're really good about customer service. Send them the pics.

On the first pictures, what you are describing as "bleed-thru" is actually proper penetration of the welds. In the last photo showing the inside of the collector, the only thing I can see is that the weld from the outside didn't reach all the way to the bottom of the tube. Since the tubes are so close together at that point when welding from the outside it's very difficult to get down that deep. Look at the weld from the outside and you should see a perfect weld. Will it affect power or durability? No, definitely not. It's just a matter of aesthetics on the inside.
When my installer put in my Comptech headers, he said they were the best quality headers he had ever seen. He also said that most aftermarket headers are a bit** to install, but the Comptech went on perfectly.
Just my 2 cents

Mike,
Thanks for your quick response. Since this is the first header I have seen close up I didn't know if this was "normal" or not. All of the welds are perfectly sealed from the outside part of the header. I'm not a welder so I had no idea if it was normal for a weld to to show up from the inside of the tube.
This post was not meant to scare anyone else from getting the headers but simply to reassure myself that the headers I had are "normal".
Within another month I should have some nice dyno charts for everyone.

Bright TL,
Did you feel a legitimate difference with your headers installed? I'm trying to convince myself to get a set from Comptech but I've never been in a car with the headers installed. I need to know how much of a performance difference can be felt. And, do you feel the gain in low or high end?
