Comptech Exhaust Project

as you know i bought these authentic comptech mufflers (pic) off the ebay

and now i am about to begin my project for the custom CT exhaust on my car

just went to an auto parts shop today and looked at some exhaust tips to put them on for the muffler

wanted to look at the magnaflow or borla tips but they are HELL EXPENSIVE...a pair that would cost me even more than the mufflers!!! the guy showed me some Pilot brand Tips

i am looking for a round angle cut tips and now i am down to 2 choices, either a 3.5" with 8" length (see pic) or a 4" with 9" length (see pic)

they are 38 dollars each and it's a lot cheaper than the magnaflows, the installation of the muffers would be 60 dollars. so including the mufflers the whole project would just cost me 250 dollars installed!!!

what do you guys think? should i go with 3.5" or 4"? they are bolt on so i don't need to pay 20 dollars to weld them on and screw up my muffers

let me know ur opinion, thanks~

I found those CT mufflers RIGHT after I bought my axelbacks... I wish I had found them first, cuz I would've def. done a custom exhaust job. Go with 3.5", that's what I would do... I like a more conservative look.

here is the thing to thinl of. most tips need to be clamped on, and in those pictures there wasnt enough pipe for any thing to clamp onto. you may have to have a shop weld on a piece of pipe to fasten the tips to

just be sure to get a long enough tip.

this way...u won't have to worry about getting the
tip length that u need to make it look good.

and this is a 4" x 9" tips, they look gd and wondering how big would that be~

i always have in mided that the 3A tips are not as big as i like, but not sure if 4" is way to go....

You should be considering what the tips are gonna SOUND LIKE when welded onto Comptech cans. Remember, the Comptechs are resonated tips to reduce the "fart can" syndrome.

I'd be worried that the tips that I choose make my car sound like a $2000 Honda Civic.

i agree! look for a resonated tip.
dont make and expensive exhaust cheap by throwing on just any old tip.

The best way to test the tips is to get the muffler shop to weld on a piece to be able to bolt on a tip. That way you can swap out a few of them till you find the tone you are looking for.

And yes, find a resonated tip.
