Comptech Exhaust owners

Does one of your mufflers hang lower than the other?

It seems my passenger side does, and I have seen some photos of other cars that look the same.

Maybe its just the perspective of the exhaust?

I had the same thing with my CT exhaust. I bent the hanger on the exhaust a little to pull it up more and then put the hanger into a different spot on the rubber part (not sure what you would call it). Does that make any sense. I should be putting my car up on a lift to put on my bodykit so I'll take some pics.

The CT exhaust is a little loud at times. Between 2100 and 2700 rpms is when it's the loudest and that is normally where you are when you are at cruising speed on the highway...so the droning noise gets a little annoying IMO. I ended up putting the silencers in and I love it now. Not to loud but it still sounds good. It's a deep tone...note high and raspy like most fart cans out there.

Comptech is the quietest of all the mufflers. Its most like teh G35 also. nice thing is (like snowman81 said) is you can add teh quiet tip inserts when ever you want and tone it down.

Think of it as your car having nuts ... one of them just has to hang lower.

nope...

the exhaust hangers the farthest back. just get a 2-3 inch hose clamp and wrap it around and clamp away.

thats what the hanger looks like roughly.

you take the hose clamp around the outside of that. then start screwing it till the exhaust is brought up to where you want it.

this is the clamp you need. i think i got one that was 3 inch and it worked. it was a little big.

So do both of your exhausts tuck into the body when its cold and sag and stick to your body when its damn hot outside?

Are you sure you did it right? the exhaust should move up (afterall acura did a GREAT job with the hangers and keeping them from swaying and bouncing up and down)

Yeah, no kidding. I've never seen an exhaust that moves around so much in my life. I might put the hose clamps on there just to lessen the movement.

Question

Hey guys,

Sorry to bring the thread back to life... but i'm running into a problem with the CT's as well. In my case though, the right is hanging just fine:

But my left side is so high that it's TOUCHING the rear lip (melted a bit of the paint already )

Right now I tucked a thick piece of tissue in between to insulate the heat, but of course that's only a temporary solution. The hose clamp trick seems to be great for raising the mufflers... but for lowering it? Hope you guys can throw me some tips... really appreciate it!

I think that you can move the muffler down a little by hanging it in a different spot on the hanger. I think that rubber piece has a couple different areas where you can wedge the exhaust into so it will be a littl lower. Of course that's not what the other holes are made for but it should work. I haven't looked under there for a while so I don't rememeber exactly but I am pretty sure that should work.

i would loosen the bolts and se if you could slightly reposition the muffler so that it doesnt. If not, i would take the muffler off and bend the hangers on the car down some so that it sits lower

Nah there is only one spot for the hanger to shoot through, thanks though.

i exp'd same w/the hks dragers (pass side hung lower). i found the hanger (closer to the flange) affects the way the exhaust pipe will point toward the rear--just like your pool cue. the hanger, closer to the bumper, on the other hand, sets the height. the adjustments react conversely. so if you want the pipe to sit higher, adj the tab(closer to the bumper) to point to the ground. after setting the height or clearance, adj the direction w/ the rear tab. it's a trial and err method but you'll see how drastic a minor adjusment of these tab do to the direction and height of the exhst pipe. a rigid pipe like a jack handle makes the adjustments easier. btw, tweak the tabs on the muffler, i dd not adjust the hanger attached to the chasis. as usual, any in & out motion is easier when rubbing surfaces are lubed just right. a dab of dishwashing liquid on the tabs makes it easier to slip the rubber pieces in & out of the tabs.

Do these silencers come with the exhaust system, or are they extra?
