Comptech Exhaust Does Not Line up?
Comptech Exhaust Does Not Line up?
Hey everyone, I am just looking for a few ideas. I purchased a comptech (axle back) exhaust off ebay supposidly for my TL-S. I've installed it on my stock BackPipe. All went well with the install except that the passenger side muffler is about 1+1/2 inch to 2 inches too far to the left. It doesn't sit in the middle of the exhaust cutout and looks offbalance. The Drivers Rear side sits perfectly in the opening. I've looked under the car and the rubber hangers appear to be hanging straight down for the passenger side which makes me think the exhaust is where it should be and still does not match the bumper cutout. I can physically push the exhaust over where I want it but it moves the drivers side out of whack also. Is it possible he sold me a CL-S exhaust? would that account for the offbalance exhaust? Even if the exhaust pipes were bent, which they dont appear to be I dont see how the rubber hangers would allow the pipe to hang another 2 inches to the right. It wouldn't be hanging down anymore, instead it would be pulling sideways on the hangers just to fit the middle of the opening. I was thinking maybe the CL-S was a narrower car? Or am I way out in the wrong direction here.
thanks.
thanks.

Yup typical problem. I had the same problem. The problem isn't that the Comptech mufflers are off, it's that the OEM mufflers were.
Go to any muffler shop and have them straighten it out for you.
The other problem is with one muffler hanging a little lower than the other.

I don't like what I am hearing. The Comptech exhaust is so nice and I plan on getting it in the future. If you bought it off ebay you cannot be sure it is the correct part for your year and model. Can anyone else confirm these fitment problems??? Good luck fixing it though.

You have to take it to a shop to get 'em aligned.

Maybe like NSXNEXT said, your OEM b-pipe is off?
Mine does occasionally look like one is higher than the other ... thats true of the OEM exhaust too and its a problem with the rubber hangers more than anything else.

b-pipe only fits TL-S and it's a waste of money.
