Question Comptech Exhaust

I just finished installing my comptech exhaust and was wondering if its normal to have a burning smell coming from back there. It's definitely not coming from under the hood or the brake pads. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks

Yes, that is normal. It kind of freaked me out too, but it's just b/c the exhaust's are new. Should get less and less noticable, and probably will dissappear in 3-4 days or so.....

What do you guys think about the comptech headers and exhaust? I've heard great things about comptech products on other vehicles. Does the exhaust only being an axle-back make any difference? I want to buy a TL Type S within the next few months or so and am already researching products for it. Any answers or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I absolutely love the exhaust. They don't add any real power, maybe 1-3HP tops, but the look and the sound really complete the car. Now the car looks and sounds like it has 260+ HP. As for the headers, if I had the extra $$, I would have bought them already. 30hp at the wheels for $1100 is hard to pass up. That power gets made up high (around 4800RPM), but just knowing it's there is worth it.

How is the interior sound with the exhaust? I like how quiet is is with the stock system and don't really want to give that up...

It's definitely not stock. It's louder, especially at lower RPMS. Around 1800-2000, it's pretty loud inside. At highway speeds, etc, it's not too bad. You're very rarely at 1800RPMs for a long period of time, so you shouldn't have to worry about it. I commute 34 miles each way and it doesn't bother me... I actually love the sound. I usually do around 80mph so my RPMs are around 2200. After the first week I had them, I got used to the sound and barely heard them. Other people notice right away though. Like I said above, I love the sound, but some people hate it. Best bet is to find someone who has the exhaust and take a ride with them.

You're welcome to come sit in mine and listen Birch. I wasn't that confortable with the sound in the beginning, but after awhile, I learnt to get used to it and started to appreciate the low V6 rumble. The low rumble seems to dissappear when I step on it though.

I second that. But it's definitely worth it (hope the tranny doesn't fail on me). I work in the Northbrook area. If you'd like, I can meet up with you sometime. Just let me know ahead of time. I hope by the time we meet, I'll have a chance to Zaino my car already. I have to get my lazy butt out there to do that...the package just came in yesterday. Is your TL-S stock? If so, I can be the devil and show you my CAI, headers, etc. Start saving up bud.
