Color Matched Spray Paint

I was going to get the outer piece of my grill painted to match the body at a shop but I don't think it would be that much different If I got spray paint and did it myself. Just sand it down clean it and spray 2-3 light even coats.

Question: Where can I get spray paint to match my car?

i believe Sherwin-Williams does automotive color matching in spray cans now. you should go to a store if theres one near you and find out more.

any local `auto paint supply store` will make you a spray can of whatever color you need
Bring paint code, on driver door sticker

a coat of duplicolors new `plastic paint` may be good plan- give it a good primer coat

one recommendation, go somewhere that uses a digital paint code obtainer. I know Napa's around here use them. They scan your paint with infrared light to get the best possible match, you bringing in a paint code wont account for the fading and wear over the years, that paint scanner will!

x2 on paintscratch.com. I used their paint for my splash guards and the match was great. You don't need your VIN, just your paint code. Your SSM's paint code is NH-623M .

This is not true. Filling the cans with mixed paint requires a special filling machine. While many do, not necessarily all automotive paint stores will have them. I purchased my NBP from a local House of Colors. One of the local Napas used to have a similar machine, but they had issues with it and have since disposed of the machine. Those were the only two shops in my town that could do it.

If you call around to your local paint stores and they dont have the machine to fill it, they will most likely know who in your town does have one.

perfect match is pretty damn close, but it will be extremely difficult to find it in the color of OP's car.

But the point is most do and is where most should check with. Many if they dont can mix you up a small amount and you can buy pressurized sprayers from Home Depot and put it in there and spray it then get some clear in a spray can and spray it. There are places online that will do it as well. As for matching paint with a scanner, you cant do that. Matching paint requires test panels to be sprayed with varying coats and by reducing more or less and if necessary tinting (usually a very last resort) Clear coats can also change the color. Not all are made the same nor are they all clear. Some are more yellow than others which will change the color (especially whites)

This sprayer can be found in most home improvement stores.

Is it a good idea to paint during this time of year? I want the paint to adhere well since it's the front of the car. Rock chips will happen but I want it to be as durable as possible.

I have LGM by the way.

So it sounds like I'm going to just go look for some body shops, Napa and do a search for a "House Of Colors". If they can't provide me with a one step can of spray paint. I'll opt for a 2 step (Base color - Clear coat). If a can of spray paint cant be obtained then Ill just get the paint mixed and by the spray gun like fsttyms1 suggested.

i tried painting the other day outside when it was 30 deg. the consistency of the paint coming out of the can was completely different. i cant explain it but it definitely was not normal. the can was most likely at the same temp as my garage which is around 40 deg.

but this is what i did. i kept the can inside my house for a little bit. i took a heat gun to the part and made it nice and warm. i quickly sprayed the part with paint, then took it inside to let it dry.

i think as long as you let the grill dry inside your house or something, you will be ok.

I just paint my front and rear bumpers recently but duplicolor Honda Nighthawk black pearl is too much contain pearl than original factory paint for my 99 tl and it turned out blueish rather than black color.
Is it 99 tl not the same color to later model?
