I can give you a great suggestion....

SLOW THE FVCK DOWN

Nothing personal but people that drive 106 miles an hour on a major highway should have their license suspended for a long time.

Don't buy a radar detector, buy a Chevy Chevette, they only go to 85mph

So I guess just drive slower...

I think there should be tolled road right beside the major highways. Where only a minimum speed is enforced like 80mph. Not a maximum.

I'll paid to get on that.

Your ticket is only $204!??!?! For going over 100 mph?? Man, my friend got pulled for 104 and she was cited with reckless driving which led her licence being suspended for 6 months, a fine of over $600 and also a mandatory court appearance in the county she was cited (which happened to be 5 hours from home). Man, you got off easy in my opinion. I agree w/ NSXNEXT, just slow down...even with the best detector in the world, there is no way you'll have time at that speed to slow down enough.

I have nothing against going fast but sometimes you just gotta pay the price.

Cool

Columbus again. There was an artilce in one of the magazines not too long ago that found that many of the cloaking devices only took a few feet off of the detection, if any, and most made you show up from even further away. They tested license covers, devices, even polishes.

Why risk ruining a beautiful ride because of some other idiot's simple mistake? At twice the speed limit, your odds of getting hit are seven times greater. You're in Ohio now, home of a huge SCCA club and http://www.midohio.com/! Race it where you have no limits!

TLracer,
Cop said he could of charged me with reckless operation but said he liked my honesty. He also said how he liked how I was stopped on the shoulder with my windows down waiting for him before he could even pull onto the road from his hiding spot. Needless to say and unfortunatly, I have a lot of experience getting pulled over and dealing with cops. I even BS'd with one and he told me the best thing to do is get safely off the road asap, roll all your windows down, remove your keys from the ignition and place them on top of your roof, make sure both your hands are visable, and be honest. This presents the least threatening situation for the cop and he/she will feel more comfortable approaching your car and treating you like a fellow human being instead of a pondscum lawbreaker.

No radar detector is going to help you if the cop turns on his radar as he sees you approach instead of leaving it on all the time. It will be too late for your detector and you'll get nailed big time.

Hey pal, You got clocked at 106 in a what 85??..If you only got a $200 ticket that is good! You should be happy. Majority of highways in NY are 65 and NYC are 45-50-55. Normally NY has a $10 per mile over the speed limit. So you must have got off or something. My friend was caught going 98 in a 45 (Staten Island Expwy @3:30AM Thurs AM).And he had his license suspended for 6 months and had to re-apply. So I say take this as a warning and slow down just about 15-20mph..

Oh the K-40s guarantee no tickets or they will pay for them. Here's aweb site check it out http://www.laserbuster.com/report.html

Don't even bother with a expensive radar. When they used laser you don't have a chance even with the most expensive radar. They say that the radar will detect the laser before they could clock you. Bullshit. They hide and turn the radar only 1 or 2 hundred feet from you. which the radar will detect but for nothing because you are already clock. I was clock at 104 on I-95 and I have a radar. I was going 115. I did slow down, but it only takes 2 to 3 seconds to clock you with laser. No enough time to slow down. Now if money is not an issue then get the system that scramble the reading on the police laser gun. They go from $500.00 to $1,000.00.
I don't remember the name of the produts. sorry.

Yes with laser on I-95 in west palm beach. Two Highway patrol officers in two cars. There is no lights on I-95 after you pass congress ave. They were on the side of the road. I didn't see them until my radar show laser. Like I said there is no time to slowdown at that speed when clock with laser. When my radar show laser I look to the right side and there they were. No farther than 100 ft. My tickets was $269 dollars and another ticket for not having my license.

Actually I'm a very mild driver and pretty much putt around town at the speed limit. I just don't see much point in the speeding that's all, let alone that exceesively. There's nothing wrong with driving your car fast, just those things are better suited for the track and not the roadway. Just my opinions....

Out here, getting caught going 115 would be jailtime, and the ticket would have been like a grand..... Tickets are cheap where you're from.

oh, I agree, especially since our cars are built so nicely for 'just cruising' but I'm just sayin, on a clear straight 4 lane highway with no traffic and no bumps.. things get a little tempting

Whoooaaaa! Consider yourself lucky for not getting arrested. I think $204 ain't sh!t for a fine for going over 100mph.
I don't know of a radar cloaking device, but you're SOL cuz as far as I know your point WILL transfer to OH. I'm a VA resident and my CA ticket showed up along with all the NJ tickets I got.

Is the Penn you are referring to Pennsylvania?

If so, I have a little trouble believing this story. I know that the fine for 55-60mph starts at like 80$ and jumps to well over 100$ for just going like 15mph over the limit. And, in PA and if you're driving over 30mph over the speed limit the throw your ass in the pokey--I know, it happened to my friend on his way home from college.

Look pal, if money is no object, than bump up your insurance coverage to the highest collision/personal injury limits possible and pay for it so that when you hit me going 106 mph you can afford some of the medical procedures that might (and I stress MIGHT)allow me to live without being fed through a straw. I have seen more automobile accidents than I care to see, and it always amazes me how people are so self-centered that they will focus on buying anything that will be to their advantage and continue to practice the very behavior that puts everyone else at risk. And oh, one more thing- when you bump up your insurance coverage, hire a lawyer, because when you are at fault, driving with a radar detector will be the least of your concerns - if you live to deal with them.

The doctor is in.

You guys are crazy! Why on earth would you need to drive 100 miles an hour, let alone 115... There really is no need to go beyond 70, you're not going to get there that much faster.... Save it for the track if you have to experience speed or something, there's a reason why they have the speed limit set at 65 and 70 on the highways.

JZ39..
If you don't believe me, I'll be happy to send you a scan of the ticket as proof.
I do consider myself lucky for such a mild punishment. I do beleive that my experince with dealing with the law helped though...as stated above - "Cop said he could of charged me with reckless operation but said he liked my honesty. He also said how he liked how I was stopped on the shoulder with my windows down waiting for him before he could even pull onto the road from his hiding spot. (They don't like delaying on what's inevidable) Needless to say and unfortunatly, I have a lot of experience getting pulled over and dealing with cops. I even BS'd with one and he told me the best thing to do is get safely off the road asap, roll all your windows down, remove your keys from the ignition and place them on top of your roof, make sure both your hands are visable, and be honest. This presents the least threatening situation for the cop and he/she will feel more comfortable approaching your car and treating you like a fellow human being instead of a pondscum lawbreaker."

Thanks for all the recomendations everyone.
And every one who said "SLOW DOWN" Your right, I do need to take it slower. Some say I have an addiction for speed (The kind you do with your car smart a$$) like some are addicted to smoking. I guess it creates a small rush that makes me feel really good. I definatly need to slow down though. Like I said to the cop: "There's no excuse."

And yes, we should have a TL meet in Columbus...

My fellow speed freak...

Before you decide to speed, you should look carefully for any spots where cops can hide. There are always those places where it is hard for the on-coming traffic to see. And if a cop wants to play a hide-and-seek, I can assure you that's where they will hide. So, know your path... and slow down at those potential spots on the fwy.

As for the detector, V1 is the way to go. It gives you coverage of 360 degrees. It even tells you what type of radar/laser it is, how close the signal is and where it is coming from.

However, like many have suggested, a radar detector won't help you much when going at a speed in excess of more than 30 mph over the speed limit. Cops won't even have to clock you to pull you over (by using their own judgements).

Besides, most cops nowadays use Instant-on-&-off radar guns... so you're already screwed when you hear the blip, blip... cuz you really don't have the time to slow down 30 mph.

I use mine as a back up (on top of staying alert). The detector works the best on a strip of straightaway where the cops could be hiding with radar gun turned on continuously with their assumption that no drivers will have the radar detector on. but this is highly unlikely.

Get a V1.. but like everyone said.. you arent 'invincible' just because you have a detector... just be smart.. let someone be in front of you so when they get tagged your detector picks it up.. of course.. there arent going to be many people going over 100MPH.. heh.

Those 'jammers' are all a gimmick.. they dont do anything but waste your money. Get a V1 and speed 'safe' if there is such a thing

There is a fine called "Imprudent Speed" basically that means the cop can give you a ticket for going over the speed limit, they don't even have to have you on radar. My bro is a cop, and I have seen him sit on the side of the road and LOOK at cars, and estimate their speed within 2mph. I have seen him do it many times. So the radar detector isn't going to help in that situation. I drive fast, but 15over is about the most I will ever do. 106, glad you got a ticket and not an accident.

That's kind of stupid. I got pull over once by a cop. I knew he saw me going like 85mph. I was passing a car on the left. He was like 200 ft behing me on the first lane. He pull me over. I knew he didn't get me on radar. He made a good guess and told me that I was going over 80 mph. I told him, I was going 85 mph and that he didn't get me on radar. Of course he was going to let me go. It will be stupid if he gave me a ticket. Just go to court and the jugde will throw it out. No prove. The jugde don't care how good you are at mesuaring speeds. No prove No ticket. Now he could have gave me a ticket for something else. Like careless driving or something.
