Is the clock supposed to light up?

On my 2001 Tl, i notice the clock light doesnt come on. I got it used so I don't know if it is supposed to have a backlight or not.

Thanks.

My 99 TL clock has a backlite clock, so yes your 2001 TL is suppose to have a backlite. You will have to remove the whole black trim piece (it goes from the gauge area to above the radio) and then you can get at the clock area behind it to change the clock bulb. It's not that hard.

I have heard that a few guys on this forum had this problem, and cured it by giving the dashboard a "whack". Give it one hard hit on top of the clock, and a lot of the times, it's a short circuit which suddenly starts working again...try that...if not take the car to the dealer.

Replacing the back light requires quite bit of work. You will need to remove the steering column and the dash console.

I have 01 TL. My clock light stopped working for bit. But then came back on it own. I did not hit the dash or anything. Try hitting the dash lightly, I would, I was thinking about it. I am thinking mine was a loose wire that just connected itself back in place. Keep us posted.

I agree, however, a light "tap" with a face down open palm right above the clock on the top of the dash will more than likely correct the situation. I say this from experience (2 times in a year time's span). You don't need to take a sledgehammer to it but tapping the dash above the clock sshould bring it back on. Do this at night with the lights on to ensure success.

My 2003 TL-S light for the clock went out and they had to replace the bulb thats in the dash. Its so stupid...its a 2 hour job because they have to remove the dash. If only they can make HID lights that hard to steal.

you guys crack me up. i had an 00 Accord before I graduated into the TL and the clock light went out three times...those mechs prob used the dash wacking method to fix the problem - probably explains why it was free when it was out of warranty.

Wasnt there a clock in the TL...lol..then I realize that there was a light behind..coz there was no way you can tell the time without the light. =) get it fixed at the dealer...should cost around 20 bux or so...to change the bulbs. I got it under warranty =)
