the backlight burned out, i think there is a diy for bulb replacement in the DIY sticky, otherwise search for clock bulb replacement and you should find some instructions

Mine burned out years ago, It hasn't been worth it to me to take apart the dash to replace it.
though an LED would be nice, if you don't have ANY Leds it'd be a bit off if only that one light was led

You don't have to disassemble the dash. It's pretty easy, about 15 min.

uhh based on the DIY (i've read that one before) you take the entire dash out.
yeah it can be done quickly, but the dash still has to come out of the car...

burned out back lights
I don't know what it is about these cars, but when I bought my 02TLS about 2 years ago, I had to replace over 1/3 of all the back lighting bulbs in the dash, instruments, & switches.
I'd take a good look at everything and order & replace all that need it at once.

It's daunting the first time, if you've never taken apart a dash.
However, it is not too hard, and bulb replacement gives you a great sense of accomplishment.
Small hands make it way easier to unplug a few cables, allowing the dash to swing out a little further.

Its 2 screws above the gauges. Then everything else is clips. Work your way around with a screwdriver while gently prying it out with your hands.

That's simply untrue- you do not have to remove the dash. Just trim & clock module if I rem. correctly. It doesn't take very long.
