Ok...here goes.

TOOLS

-Phillips head screw driver

PROCESS

step 1. There are two screws on the underside of the top of the dashboard. on in front of the RPM meter and one in front of the Fuel Meter. Remove them.

step 2. Remove the CD tray Holder, i found it easy to gain access from the underside of the panel...

Step 3. Remove the AC Control knobs to the left and right of the AC display.

Step 4. lightely separate the dashboard from the leather on the top portion...just to get it loose.

Step 5. just above the CD tray holder is where the dashboard begins, easily try to fit your fingers
underneath and pull towards you gently...Also use the separators in the dashboard that
separate the Odometers and pull gently untill the dashboard is lose and pulls out. (Don't get
get scared if it doesn't pull out immediatly, tooke me a few minutes to loosen.

Step 6. There are 2 harnessed wires for the AC controls directly behind their respective knobs,
slowaly pull them out, might need to use some force.
There is one harnessed wire for the Yeild Flashing lights, also pull it out.
and finally one harnessed wire for the clock pull that out slowly.
(all this is done without pulling the dashboard completely out of its housing.)

Step 7. Locate the clock box behind the dash, there are two screws one to the left and one to the
right. Remove each screw and becareful not to lose them behind the dash.

step 8. on each side of the box there are two tabs, pull them and separate the box in half.

Step 9. locate the small light in the board. turn quarter turn to the left (LEFTY LOOSEY), yeah, and
and replace with new bulb. may need to use a small flat head to use when turning a quarter
turn to the right, to tighten.

step 10. PLUG EVERYTHING BACK IN AND MAKE SURE YOU TEST ALL OF THE EQUIPMENT BEFORE PUTTING BACK THE DASHBOARD. (MAKE SURE THE CAR IS TURNED ON ALSO)

NOTE: I AM IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES CAUSED TO YOUR VEHICLE FROM THE ABOVE STEPS. THE ABOVE STPES ARE THE SAME EXACT STEPS THAT I TOOK TO REPLACE THE CLOCK LIGHT BEHIND MY DASHBOARD. I DRIVE A 2000 ACURA 3.2 TL, AS FAR AS OTHER VEHICLES OF DIFFERENT YEARS, MODELS, MAKES I AM NOT SURE HOW THEIR PROCESS IS OF DOING THE ABOVE INSTALLATION.

as these may seem to be long strenuous DIY's this was the first time to pull out the dashboard in my car and do this installation. the only trouble I had was plugging back the harnessed wires as the people at HONDA/ACURA don't give you enough slack, but with some manuevering i got them connected. should be easy...

alrigh peace, and good luck...gotta go watch the ALCS

What color did you make it? And now you are going to have to change the cd playerlights also. We want a pic to. I know someone who changed the background lights/words red. Looked really cool. Where did you get the bulbs? part numbers?

PICS will be posted tomorrow evening.

I did not change the color of the clock light, but obviously if you change the color of the clock light you will have a mismatch in color with the CD/Radio diplay color. If anyone changes or has done this with different cloros, let me know where you got the colors from...

Sorry, I wasn't clear on my last post, I meant to say that although I was able to get mine done under warranty, the write-up had enough detail to follow pretty easily w/o the pics IMHO.

My light has been out since i bought my car. I started a poll a while back on this topic...seems to be a trouble spot on TLs:

Mine went out a few months ago. Took my 00 TL in for service today and asked about it. They would NOT cover the replacement under the Acura Care extended warranty (really regretting buying that damn thing!) Bought the bulb and figured I'd replace it myself. Before that, I read a post here with a lot of people that had success by hitting the dash above and around where the clock is. Sure enough...after about 10 good smacks, it came back on! Since this is more of a wiring issue, I'm going to go back to the dealer and get them to fix this under ext. warranty. Let's see how far I get!

the backlight on my clock is fine, however it's the numbers that don't show properly (missing lines). Dealer wants about $100 to take do a diagnostics to look at the car and then change it if necessary.

Your LCD screen is probably not aligned with the PCB board. The display just simply sits there on the PCB board and connects with simple pad interconnects (sorta like a remote control button). The LCD is easily removed and can easily loose connection if not set properly. I know this for a fact with my LED upgrade. Some wouldnt work at first, then reinstalled and was all better. All I would do is take it apart yourself (easily done) with the 4 tabs on the side, and then remove the LCD screen (careful of the blue screen, it will probably fall out) and then reinstall and test. That will probably do the trick.
