Clock Display LED

I was wondering if the clock on the 2003 3.2 TL should be illuminated at night. Mine never lights up at night and I was wondering if my LED is burned out, if I need a new fuse for the light, or if it isn't supposed to be lit up at all? Thanks for your time guys.

The clock light and the climate control display should light up as soon as you turn your car on.

Punch the dash between the air vents and clock. Don't smash it, but give it a good thump. It might light up again.

If it doesn't work, time for a new bulb.

I'll definitely try punching it since mine is off most of the time and then magically comes on...and then off again!

Mine just stopped lighting up at the same time that the "reset" button for the trip meter stopped. Same circuit?

All accessory lights are on the same circuit, but should be independant of each other. The clock light shouldn't affect the reset lights.

This is kinda silly, but today I was taking apart my dash b/c I had an extra #74 bulb (from subtledreamer's shiftgate GB) laying around but when I got to the clock I noticed I needed a wedged base bulb . Waste of time, but oh well atleast I know how to take off my dash now. Took me 30 mins.

The Back Light is out. We had the dealer replace ours a couple weeks ago - while were picking up our 07 TL-S

Thumbs up

You guys are the shiznit! As funny as this is I had the same idea to give it a good punch and it has stayed on ever since. I just saw your post about hitting it now. IT WORKS! It must be a loose wire or connection because now it stays on. But I had to give it a rampage jackson punch. Thanks for the help guys. This newcastle is for you!

same thing happened to me....clock light is out, haven't tried punching it yet, but I will tonight lol

on a related subject though, the light for my odometer/sportshift is out...it used to go out during the winter and come back on when the temp. would be consistently warm but this year it looks like it's out for good.. Is that an expensive fix? I'm getting a new deck installed soon and I want to do the blue led conversion for the clock/climate control as well so I was wondering if this could all get done at once ?

Not an expensive fix at all. Replacement bulbs (#74 type) run for ~$3 a pop. Just takes a bit of time & patience taking apart the dash

Here are the guides for doing so:

Thank you sir

the dealer was quoting me some ridiculous prices for that (labour for locating the problem etc, they wouldn't replace the bulbs rather the whole circuit board etc...) blah, i think i'm gonna attempt this myself. Plus the led conversion.
