Climate control
Hi, Acura TLers
I have a simple question about our Climate control, in what position do you guys have it set when the weather is cold, I live in Toronto, Canada and it gets very very cold up here, at what level do you guys keep it on, do you guys run it with Auto Mode on? meaning the A/C working at most times.
Can someone steer me in the right direction with this matter, in what bottons and what levels I should try, or what to play with.
Thanks Again

As I recall, a side benefit of A/C is to remove humidity inside the car. However, I don't believe it's effective at removing humidity when it's below freezing (probably wouldn't be needed anyway). What I do in the winter (here in FL) is to use the heat w/o A/C - because humidity isn't much of a problem and there's no reason to be running the compressor all of the time.
I do however make sure to make a few trips with the A/C on each week though to keep the seals in the system lubricated. I'm pretty convinced that most r134a leaks in newer car A/C systems up north are from lack of use during the winter months - seals lose lube - refrigerant leaks out.

i live in toronto...
i usually set it at 23 if not too cold...with A/C off....
it's not gd to use A/C to blow warm air.....
sometimes i will put it in 25 when i startup the car...but it's getting too hot when it comes to the normal temp...
also putting in A/C off will save u about 5 dollars of gas per tank~ =D

If I'm understanding you correctly, you mean that if I always keep the Full Auto activated, I'm also using A/C? Wow, didn't know that. So, you're suggesting that we should just set it at auto, instead of full during winters times of low humidity. I usually just set it at Full Auto year round and not think about it.

Newbie question - I thought that the humidity in cold places (where I have been anyway) is like 5-10%.
BTW - I always kep my air setting to "recirculate" when in snow.
That way, no dampness from the outside gets into the car. The interior air heats up faster too when you recycle it.

We get all sorts of crazy weather off the great lakes here. A few times, there was condensation on the inside of the car and it froze. i actually had ice INSIDE the car.
You must have it in Full Auto then, right? If not, your windows would fog up big time!
I turn the A/C on about 5 minutes for every half hour. Condensation is from our breath (and I normally have no more than 2 people in my car...we do the "one couple, one car type convoy")
If your A/C works properly, and there are no wet items (like mats) in the car, the A/C unit will pull all the moisture out of the air pretty quick.
