Question Clifford Alarms

I've read that Clifford Makes good alarms. What types you you guys own, what features do you consider critical, and how much can I expect to pay INSTALLED?

See sig.

Blackjax anti carjacking feature is cool. It's got all the typical alarm features too.

Payed $500 including install, but I was one of the first ones my shop did. It took them 8+ hours to install. They'll never do that again.

Question

Is there an alarm that will integrate with what is already there? I want to be able to continue to use the Acura key fob and have only the driver door open when unlock is pressed for the first time. Plus I want the memory seat to still work with the key fob.

I have the Clifford IG8000 w/add-ons.
I got this model because I was unsure about getting the auto-start feature. I can have it added for about $125. I also did not wan't some other features the IG9000 or Advant Guard 4 came with. I added stuff to mine like pager, tilt sensor, Back-up siren,
omni sensor,Cliffnet Port. I like the Built-In BLACKJAX anticarjacking feature the best.
I also like how my alarm has coustomised siren sounds picked by me. I can change the sounds anytime I want to. I also like how you can turn off & adjust sensors. This can be done by you with the master remote. My cost last year was about $950 with an extra companion remote that I added.

Thumbs up

I got the Clifford IG9000 for about $699 but with my twin LEDs install it was close to $900 - and it took them all day! But I'm happy with the system and the install. I like the Auto Door lock at 15 mph (or 2000 rpm I found out), the sensor that turns your lights on/off automatically when it gets darker/lighter. And like NSXNEXT said, the anti-carjacking feature gives you peace of mind Those are just some of the long list of features all of which are adjustable (e.g., how dark it is before auto headlights come on) and all can be enabled/disabled.

so how does the anti-carjacking feature work when the key is in the ignition already and the car is running? is there a separate remote you push to disable or something? i guess my Q is how does the car know that youve been carjacked?

When you start the car you have about 40 seconds to put in your 3 digit PIN on the PlainView Valet switch (it's a small 2-button thing that I have installed on the blank switch next to my dash dimmer). Once your PIN is in the car is armed. If the driver's door (or any door) is opened when the engine is running, and the door is closed again, the 3 digit PIN must be re-entered. If not the car will shut down and the alarm will sound as soon as the brakes are applied or the car turns a corner. So if you get yanked out of your car and a theif takes off, they have a few seconds to enter the PIN, but they won't know it

pretty cool feature...is Clifford the one alarm that offers this? or does DEI have it too?

Cliffords have it Built-IN since DEI just purchased Clifford I don't think other alarms have it. DEI makes VIPER ALARMS so I don't know if they have some kind of anticarjacking features. I love this feature because I have to get out of the car to open & shut the gate to my fence in the alley. The alley gets some unknown foot traffic. The car will only go about 150-200 feet before stopping. You get a warning alert to let you know that you have to enter the code. This will chirp if you forget & you can enter it while driving. The person would have to get your code correct on the 1st time. The system will only let you try 3 times & then you have to wait a few min. You can change your code at anytime & its turned off in the valet mode for service.

A guy told me that you can wire a ghost switch to the DEI alarms, which can be tripped upon "exiting" the car. That should activate the anti-jacking feature. I haven't verified it so I may have misunderstood.

Hey TLDaddy, if a car-jacker sees the panel, wont' he/she just take you with them. Then they could make you tell them the code, too. If they have the means to take your car, I'm sure they have the means to get anything.
