Clearcoat Help! any professional auto painters here?

I have a few peeling clearcoat spots on my tl. Two roundish spots on the top which started about the size of a quarter but is not about 3-4in in diameter and a minor peeling around the trunk. Repainting the car is out of the question so will this work? Sanding the the area around the clearcoat with about 1000grit sandpaper, spraying can clearcoat, resand, repray, then buff. This is what I do when applying gloss to wood so Im thinking it should work about the same. When I picked up my car from the body shop today from bumper repairs, I asked the painter if clearcoat was even sold in spray cans and he said yes. I asked him if my method would work and he said yes. Can anyone else confirm this? I wouldnt want to make things worse. Thanks in advance .

Well I was told by some forum members about this site:

http://www.paintscratch.com/

They have spray touch up paint apparently.

what you said would work, but I suggest if you are going by rattle can, go find the brand SIMS clear coat. In my expensive, this is by far the best you can go. It takes a few good layers after you sand. Once it drys, I would give it a day or two and wet sand it. Ive done this before on a previous car and it turned out fine. good luck

You can do it that way but you have to be careful not to build up too much in the repaired area or sand just a small area. You will have to sand much further out to make sure you are able to blend the area better. (spray a good 6 to 12+ inches past the effected area. )
