Question Are clear corners illegal ?

I saw a passat which had clear corners (factory) so I am guessing it's legal. Is it illegal for the back to have them?

Does anyone know where I can get clear corners for the front for my 2000 3.2TL?

They're legal if they have yellow bulbs in them.

We have 2 Clearing Guru's in the Tri-State area. Diplo and StreetEffectz. We usually have them do it cuz it requires heating the seal and pooping open the headlights then sealing them back up.

Snook has posted a FAQ on how to do it over in the left side of the page. It is really difficult to do, so if you do it be very careful.

Yup yup, 96TL is right. That's why those played-out Altezza tails are legal. As long as things light up the color they're supposed to, it's legal. Of course, just because something's legal doesn't mean cops won't give you a hard time.

That Passat had clear corners, but I am sure it also had amber sidemarkers.

I think I read somewhere before in Ca that clears are illegal. You must have an amber reflector on the side of the car towards the front. If just having bulbs that flashed amber were legal, I would have had clears ages ago.

I noticed that most factory cars that have clear corners with yellow bulbs, also have a yellow reflector somewhere on the bumper. Is that reflector needed so that it's legal?

In CA you can have white or amber front turn signals and red or amber rear signals, ONLY! Not sure what the law is on reflectors. I haven't cleared mine or got the Inspire/'02 TL clear tails cuz I don't want to give the cops a reason to mess with me.

At least in the sate of MD...

Even if you have cleared out lights and amber/red bulbs... you still need a amber/red reflector either in the front or rear...

I think it might also be a federal requirement.

I have clear fronts as well as backs. I've signaled right in front of a cop before with my clear backs with no amber lights. The cop didn't pull me over at all. So, I guess they're legal.

I have the clear bumper corners. first of all, cops really don't pull you over if you have those. if you are caught speeding then they might say something about it. and second, all you need yellow is the TURN light, nothing else IS needed. on the back. what i have heard from a police chiefs son (friend) is that as long as the tailight is red, (the stop light) and that is ok. but that is for Illinois so...good luck
