Cleaning a white TL. Best Tips?

My brother has a 2000 TL and after a while when it rains I notice like a black sooty film on the car. I glazed, polished, waxed the car and was wondering if any other white TL car owner noticed this mysterious film. I only noticed it on a white TL. If it was just dust it would be ok but after a wash it seems like it comes off but some spots require more scrubbing to get it off and even then a little polish takes it off. ANy ideas how to prevent this?

i have experienced this on my 99 wdp, it only seems to be on the roof, i donno what it is or how it gets there cuz i wash my car all the time, i usually just use a meguiars cleaner wax and it comes right up. This thread is in the wrong place however, might have better luck posting in wash&wax.

black sooty film?! its not just your car man. its on every car but its more noticible since its white. gotta keep it clean man. wash and wax weekly. also try claying the car before the wash and wax

Had that on my White Accord. It sucks...I know exactly what you're talking about. Automatic washes don't get it off. You have to clay bar the car to get it off... Polish it and then add a clear coat wax to seal and protect it.

I got it too, I think I didnt wash all the dirt off and when I waxed my car, I buffed in the dirt leaving that black stuff. Cleaner wax took it off, and now I just make sure to rinse my car a few extra times if its really dirty.

clay bar, polish, seal, wax and you should be good to go. zaino makes a great package that will repell dust, use good MF or WW towels to prevent static cling.
