Cleaning Exhaust Tips
Hi all -
I still have the stock exhaust, and the tips are quite black where the moisture comes out the bottom of the tips.
Normal soap/water just gets the dust off, but the bottom is still really dark. I have seen this on nearly every car I have ever looked at.
Any ideas how to clean it so they look new?
Thanks!

Mine were absolutely horrible. I don't clean them often, so the stuff is caked on. I tried carb cleaner, engine cleaner, and nothing got the caked on carbon off.
Until - I used a non-lye based oven cleaner (the no fumes type)! Sprayed that on, let it soak an hour or so, and threw 'em in the dishwasher. They came out looking new.

anyone have any newer opinions on this topic. i'm in a similar situation as the o.p. of this thread. i'm going to keep my stock exhaust tips, but i wana try and get rid of the shit that's caked on there. was wondering if anyone had some newer ideas that what was already posted ..
err, i have another question now.
the bolt that's below the stock exhaust tip, that holds it on... i tried to remove it but it's so rusted on there that it started to bend the metal piece it's screwed through (can post a pic if needed). any suggestions on how to loosen that rusted screw up so i can remove the tip easier?
