It removes all of the surface impurities that are on the paint. It wiil feel as smooth as glass afterward. Make sure you use a good product with it (like DriWash) and it will come out AWESOME. You won't regret it!
get the zaino bar.. it is awesome. Not all hard like some of the others....

I have some meguiars clay. This ones softer than the Claymagic I had before. The problem is though, is that the clay (meguiars one) rubs off some and sticks to the paint. I duno, still works alright, but sometimes a bother to try and 'clay' the clay off.
Follow the directions whatever bar you get.
I washed and dryed my car first and then used the bar on it. Make sure you don't overspray the lubricant, you don't want it dripping all over the place.
Also, you don't want to be stingy with it either, it really helps.
Listen for the sound of the bar going accross the paint. When you don't hear anything anymore, it should be smooth.
I did mine about a week ago and it really really made a difference. I had some rail dust on my hood that now is soooo smooth.
I got kinda carried away with the bar, I loved the results on my car so I decided to wash and clay my mom's 5 yr old Camry. I couldn't believe the results!
After you clay bar, make sure to use a nice wax to protect all your hard work.
