CL vs TL

Apologize if its been discussed before but it is pretty hard to search for that on these board. My friend just bought a CL-S after test driving my TL-S. He wants to race me. What are my chances? The HP vs Weight is definitly in his favor but can my driving make up for it? I driven sticks all my life before this car. Any tips?

it's a toss-up. mags have the tl-s like .1 sec. faster which means nothing, considering that mags only tested that ONE car they had and it is not representative of any average. and the cars were also tested at different times, so there's no way to tell if the tl-s was tested during 60 degree weather and the cl-s at 80 degree weather, how much the test driver weighed, at what elevation, etc.

i'd put my money on the cl-s just because it's a tad lighter which would put the average a little more on their side (50.4 vs. 49.6%).

and also consider if the engines came from a "fast" batch or a "slow" batch.

so in all fairness, these cars have to be considered the same. the tl-s is NOT faster.

Dude chill. They both basically the same engine with same output. Everything is going to be up to the driver. The weight difference is very very minimal. Don't take that into count. since both cars are automatics. The start if going to make all the difference. Either you raced on a track (more driver skills required) to see who does the best time or you do 5 line to line races and the best of 5 wins.

why should i chill? i haven't UNchilled yet.

if you did a 5 line to line race, and the tl-s won 5 out of 5, that still doesnt' say that a tl-s is faster than a cl-s. it just says that YOUR tl-s is faster than THAT cl-s. you can line up a different cl-s and tl-s with the same drivers, and the cl-s could win 5 of 5, and then again, that stil doesn't say anything about tl-s's and cl-s's...it jsut says something about those particular 2 (or it says something about the drivers of each).

but yeah, i forgot to include the driver skill as a variable also.

Why does everyone always ask if their TLS can beat their buddies car? When you bought your car, you should of done your homework and know how the TLS should perform, and how its competitors perform. Heck, even cars that are not is competitors; you should have an idea how fast most cars are, if you are an auto enthusiast.
Instead of asking if you can beat someone, go do it and come back and tell us that you did. Or, that you didn't. If you lose fair and square, be a man and suck it up.
Anyway, if you are going to race, make sure both of you have the same amount of gas in your tank, and take into consideration if one of you has a heavy subwoofer; the added weight could be a factor. Make sure you are both ready to race, that way when one of you loses you don't have an excuse. No need for a silly race to ruin a friendship.

First, arm wrestle.

Then, pull each others' hair until someone says "Mercy!"

Then, go race your cars.

Oh, and, last one in is a rotten egg.
