CL Vs 350 Z

I dont know too much about the Z, but which one is truly better.
Drop your thoughts! Hopefully , if the INS sees my car as salvaged then i will have the opp. to buy a new car. Which one do you guys think is worth my $$$. CL 4 32,000 or Z track 4 35,000/ thats 260 VS 280/Front drive VS rear/four seater VS two/ 17"wheels VS 18/ETC...

So far, from paper specs and early tests, it seems 350Z(with 6-speed) will outrun CLS 6-speed in just about every test. And with RWD layout, I am not a bit surprised.....Besides Styling, I would take 350Z over CLS.....

Simple:

1. If you want pure speed then 350Z (sport coupe) is the winner.

OR

2. If you want speed AND luxury then the CL-S (luxo-sport coupe) is the winner.

I don't know what is going on with nissan but their interior is :yack: .

BTW, from what the magazine have tested, they (6-speed) both run high 5s in 0-60!:wow:

Actually, the auto 350Z runs 5.8 0-60. The fastest 6-speed 350Z was tested around 5.2 0-60. Pretty big difference. Also, motortrend was able to break into the 13s in the 1/4 with the new Z.

The 350Z will absolutely smoke the CLS in all performance categories, HOWEVER, they are not at all competitiors. Not even remotely close except for price. If you want to shop the 350Z, Honda's closest competitor is the S2000. The CLS's best competitor would be the 330ci, and g35 coupe.

Sorry...it might not be in any mags now My friend had the 350Z over the weekend (designer at NDI) and gets the early scoop on how the tests went. He told me 5.2 by a mag but you're right, it is unconfirmed. I think the official number is 5.4.

BTW, he LOVED the 350Z handling. He could not give it enough praise. However, as a designer, he thinks the G35 coupe looks better but to each his own.

Or... if you want pure speed and some luxury (and a sweet coupe) then wait for the Infinity G35 Coupe. Best of both worlds.... a luxurious Z......

The interior of the Z and most Nissans is so ugly to me. Like mentioned before, the CLS and Z are different kinds of cars. RWD sport VS FWD luxory. I would take the CLS persoanlly. I just can't live with an interior so ugly in a $30k car. It's a shame the interior sucks considering the exterior is pretty good looking. Also, who cares about 0-60 times? That's just how good your 1rst adnd 2nd gears are. The 1/4 tells you more about the engine/drivetrain imo.

It's a shame that everyone is so obsessed about the Z's 1/4 mile time because it will outhandle almost every car in its class. The only exception might be the S2000. For the enthusiast, the Z will be a dream come true. You want luxury, the Z is not for you. If you want a true sports car, then its a great time right now.

It depends on if you want a 2-seat car.

I would love a convertible, but I need 4 seats, and a Solara is out!. A CL-S or G35 convertible would be fantastic!!

Well, guess how can Nissan make a $40K car and sell it on $27K?

Find the cheapest supplier you can find on interior plastics. See pic (may take a bit to load)

I think even Korean cars are better than this now. But I guess if driving is all you care about, Z will fit very well.

u think korean cars are better than the z interior...well thats what you think.

The ALtima and 350Z seem to have absolutely horrible interiors, looks and quality. Maybe Koreans manufacter the stuff, I dunno, but if you sit in an Altima, that car is worse than my 1989 Nissan Sentra, no joke. G35 ain't great either.I also think fake wood sucks though.

Performance, 350Z hands down, for lil of both and room for 4, CL-S hands down.

Well the G35 coupe is an upgrade over both, but don't know if Uz can handle the rear end & the 38k sticker.

these cars are in completely different categories
the CL is a practical two-door that can go fast, but is also quite comfortable, not to say that the quality/reliability would be much higher as well
the 350Z seems to be too good to be true, like all the new Nissans, but then again, we all know the reason, they spent all the money into chassis tuning and forgot about the fact that drivers actually sit INSIDE the cabin
anyways, seems like the 350Z doesn't generate enough lateral G and has a lot of understeer, which sucks because it's a RWD car, but that's only what Car and Driver thinks, i'll haveto see it myself when my friend's car arrives
still, it would make sense if the 350 still out-handles the CL, and faster too
but the CL's 6-speed is very good, in honda tradition, and it has very nice FWD system
it really depends on what you want
good luck

Well like most have said two different classes, the 350z is going to be an incredible performance car for the money. Nissan Did an awesome job recreating this Z car. However it is going to be a performance car and some luxurys (sp?) are going to be spared. This is where the CL does a good job of being the car in the middle, good performance, acceptable handling, comfortable, sytlish interior...... For me I think I am going to have to choose the 350z because I really am looking for a high performance coupe in my price range that can run with fast cars and am not looking for a luxory, elegant interior as well. This is of course all in my opinion and am not trying to force this on anyone.

On a lighter side: I already posted this link at A-cl.com but check out this link www.350z.org prob a repost but what the hay It's early in the morn and Im still buzzing!! hehe
