Thumbs up CL Type S 6-speed

Just test drove the new CL Type S 6spd, the handling is AMAZING :wow: I found it far superior to the TLS! Besides the OnStar I also noticed that the car had a different BOSE system - with tweeters in the front and two speakers in the rear deck. Does anyone have info on 6 spd for the TLS?

guys guys.... the cl ALWAYS has tweeters and they have been using 6 speakers system since they new body style... that's not something new for the new 6 speed cls. however it doesn't have a subwoofer, something the tls offer but then again we don't have tweeters.

nothing on 6 speed for tls at all. well next year the tl would be totally redesign, we will have to wait

If you guys are looking for 6-Speed CL info, I just picked mine up on Friday and have a full review and photos over on the CL site.

The initial posts are good, but towards the end some A-Holes joined in with some “FLAME” type posts.

Enjoy..........

The tweeters are located in about the worse place you could put them for imaging. I'd rather do without them and replace the door speakers with a nice set of coaxs or components and put the tweeter down low by the mid. Like this...my car.

My 2002 handles the same as the 6spd CL-S as well. TL-S must have different suspension or something.

At first I didn't like the clear upper tails but I think I like it now.

Too bad they did away with the "fogs" instead of putting in "real" ones.

I don't like the door on the cupholders.

Other than that. I'd buy one

Congratulations! This is such an awesome vehicle. I went in thinking its going to be no big deal but that short throw 6 spd and the ATTS system controlling 260 hp was just too much fun :wow:

Acura 101 is the BEST, they treated me GREAT and also told me that I can come back anytime and try out the CLS again if I want to be sure

Now the only thing is I have to figure out if I can live with a coupe...

The TL-S is different to the CL-S. The CL is stiffer, the bucket seats are more agressive.

In front and rear, the Type S uses stiffer springs, higher damper compression and rebound damping(compare to TL-S). In a CL Type S with 6-speed manual transmission, the weight savings allow for shorter front springs, which help to lower the front profile slightly. (New I guess)

Compare with 02:
Torque-sensing, variable power-assisted rack and pinion steering
Steering Wheel Turns (Lock-to-Lock) 2.88

and other minor or interior/exterior touches.

Just remember that most of the chirp comes from the fact that the CL rides on the crappiest Michelins around. You could chirp those tires in a Yugo.

CL Swan Song?

I heard that if the sales of the CL doesn't increase it'll be killed by Honda. Any truth to that rumor?
The new CL-S w/ 6 speed should certainly increase sales if anything will!!

Actually, even the old style CL has always had a 6-speaker Bose system.

Test drive the 6-speed CL-S last night and the car definately feels much faster BUT remember that the gearing is lower because there are more of them. I found that I was always keeping the revs up which we know means much more power. The torque level of the CL-S/TL-S is very high in the RPM band so allowing the rpm's to fall low or being caught in to low of a gear means pitifull throttle response. Definately more fun to drive

I too drove a 6spd here in the Pittsburgh Area. I will admit, it is def. more fun to drive than the auto. Power wise feels about the same, but ofcourse its better due to having the ability to control the gears much better. I felt that 1st gear was very short as I found myself near redline pretty quickly. The shifter has a short throw feel to it and looks kinda cool. I felt that it lacked torque, probably cuz I'm so used to the 540's torque. All in all, pretty cool car to drive.

Sales person asked me "so, can we sell you one today?" I told him, let me think about it and I'll get back to you.

One of the major messups in my opinion is that the coupe is just too big... if I was going to make a space compromise by choosing a coupe why would I opt to drive one that is the length of a school bus (192+") ? They should've limited the length to about 180" and improved the handling...

What is the length of other coupes the CL competes against? One reason I bought my CL was because of the size--I can comfortably carry passengers in the back seat and the trunk is cavernous, even with the CD changer hanging back there. But I still get the sporty feel and look of a 2-door car...
