The manual trans is VERY strong. You will need a different clutch to handle it though. Oh and how do you plan achieving your HP goal?

You're most likely going to have to choose DD or all that hp. With the mods it would take to get that much HP it won't be much of a daily car.

aww shitty i had my 99 eclipse with 450 hp as a dd

and to get 450 in mods really isnt that hard if you think about it
you take the block do a full build on it. maybe even do the type s manifold swap. build the head swaped or stock. then you boost the shit out of it. nothing crazy maybe a nice 12 to 15. my eclipse was running 20psi

you can get a nice 400 to 450 hp on almost any engine if you build it right within reason not saying a 2 cyl car will have 450 hp

We have such massive amount of torque steer I just couldn't imagine what 450hp would be like. I'm sure the numbers are attainable with the right amount of money and work but drivability would surely not be ideal.

This is why rear wheel drives will always put the power to the pavement better.

If you have high enough budget, it is doable. However, your 99 TL with 300k miles is not built for boost like 4G63 motors in 1g and 2g eclipses. Getting over 350HP on 4G63 is easy and doable on the big 16g turbo. Outside of basic bolt-ons, TL performance market is very thin.

Getting 400HP out of TL is very money intensive and inefficient. $4,000 comptech supercharger gets you extra 40-50 WHP, which puts stock TL at 200-220 WHP range. If you have the cash to do the engine work and transmission swap, you have enough money to buy a fast DD: Z06, M5, M3, E55.

The engine doesnt need to be built. It can handle it. But there will be a TON of custom fab work to get a turbo on the car. Your biggest problem is that the ECU can NOT i repeat can NOT be tuned, reflashed or anything like that. Your ONLY way to tune it properly is with a full standalone. Know a good tunner with a dyno?

Oh and he is making over 700 on a stock internal motor.
