chromed my shift gate...A+

I know there are many treads on this, but I just wanted to tell everyone who has a '99 TL (BTW) to go and DO IT NOW! Its only on the '99 TL.

I got the graffiti remover from Home Depot in a white spray bottle. Take off the shift gate....1) take off the little oval cover by the shift gate with a flat head screwdriver. 2) gently pry up the black part by the shift gate 3) work the shift gate off by gently pulling it up from one side then the other.

I would take this time and clean all around the part that is open now...the black plastic under the shift gate and the letters themselves.

Anyway, spray the graffiti remover all over the part and let sit for like 30 or 40 seconds and you can rub off the dull cover and BLING!!! you know have a sweet chrome shift gate!!! run some water off of it and clean her up then put it back on.

It scratches easily so use a soft cloth when cleaning it for future references.

Do I need to spray anything on it to help protect it? Or do I just need to keep it clean with a soft cloth? thanks

A soft cloth will do just fine. You could even dampen the cloth a little bit before wiping.

Really? On my '99, it used to blind me on certain Summer days to a point where I'd cover it w/something. Guess that's why mine is so scratched up. :o

Not a problem anymore since I barely drive my '99. I got my '03 TL-S to rack up miles!

BTW, I have tints on my '99.
