Post Chirping 2nd Gear on TL-S

I don't know about you guys, but my TL-S chirps second gear when I put it in SS and go full throttle. It is so sweet...actually makes me fell like i'm driving stick again...do you guys chirp 2nd too?

Chirps in 2nd gear?? Wow, no way does mine do that, it's smooth through 4th gear. That's strange you should say that, do you have headers or an Intake? Many CL-S owners hear that 2nd gear chirp AFTER they get headers, and then again, only about 40% of the time. SS shouldn't have anything to do w/ it either, do you think? It shifts for you. Still cool though! Wish mine did that.

actually it will be more likely to do it in ss since the shifts in ss are %10 harder (according to acura)

a week ago i was in zodiak's TLS and we were going through rain .. then we pulled onto an empty street to see how much wheelspin he'd get with wet tires. he floored it off the stop. he spun completely through 1st and was still spinning for a couple seconds in 2nd .. pretty cool (tcs was off obviously)

My co-worker and I always race on our way home from work. He has a Mitsubishi 3000GT manual (no turbo), and I had a 98 Honda Accord V6. We were always pretty close, but he would always beat me. I bought a new TL-S, and raced him. I blew right past him. When I got to work the next day he told me the engine sounded sweet (unlike my wimpy sounding Accord) as I drove past him, and he said the loud chirp shifting into second gear was impressive.

It’s no longer any fun driving home now, because for some reason he doesn’t want to race anymore.

hey, you TL-S owners aren't the only ones that can chirp second:

I haven't done it, but I hear it's possible

The stock tires will make quite a chirp going into 2nd on:

1. Paint strips
2. Smooth concrete
3. New Asphalt

If you are on a smooth surface or a surface that the POS stock tires don't stick too well on, you will get a nice loud chirp. Try getting a chirp on some old asphalt that looks like rough sandpaper (very grey and very rough) -- it wont happen. At least it won't happen until you get a SuperCharger or other major upgrade.

Then again, there is that 6-speed that people will be trying to knock the teeth off the synchros...

BTW -- Making squealing sounds is fun, but don't let the police see you do it -- it can be a good way to get a "Speed Exibition" ticket. (If you have some end-of-the-month ticket happy cops, cool it on the burning rubber)
