Unhappy chilling story.......

In the Boston Globe this morning:

Two men killed in crash after two cars were reportedly drag racing
By Associated Press, 05/18/01

Two Norton men were killed Friday morning when their car was broadsided by a vehicle that a witness said was drag racing.

Sean Tessier, 21, and Hossam Abdallah, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at about 12:25 a.m. on Route 138 at the Route 495 overpass, police said.

Police said a Toyota carrying the two victims was broadsided pulling off 495.

Gas station attendant Jack Hamm said he saw two cars drag racing down a straightaway on Route 138 just before the crash.

"When I heard the accident I thought I was going to go up there to make sure everyone was OK and when I got up there, it was a lot worse than I expected," Hamm said.

The second car that was reportedly drag racing not at the scene when the police arrived.

Two passengers in the car that hit the Toyota, Oronde Hale, 21, and Michael Breer, 31, both of Norton, were airlifted to Boston Medical Center. Their conditions weren't immediately released.

The young men who died weren't even racing.

I like driving fast too - this is just a reminder to use your brains.

My favorite saying is: "Who is destined to be hanged, won't drown"....

If you are destined to die in a car crash... it'll happen... but you can also be walking down the street and a brick can fall on your head and kill you...

P.S. I think I'll change my signature to that...

Being cautious and using your brain helps reduce the chances of injury. But accidents are just that - accidents. There is no way to escape them, just like earthquakes will happen in California and Hurricanes will hit in Florida.

Unless there is a law written about the speeding ticket price I don't think they can just arbitary charge somebody $11,000 for a speeding ticket.

I know what you are talking some people just don't use their brains. I was watching the News last night. This was CBS with Dan Rather anyway he was talking about reckless driving. Police in some town saw a motor bike going fast. The bike was on a road with a 45MPH speed limit he was changing lanes in & out from around cars. The police put the radar gun on him. This Honda motor bike was clocked at 160MPH. They caught him & they say his fines could range up to $11,000.

They charged him with at about 8 or more tickets. Speeding, failure to signal, weaving in and out of traffic, and a everything possible that they could charge him with. I think he had no insurance, or something like that also. He was an idiot though. If I remember the stroy right, the cop in an unmarket car clock him at 160. He then thought it was a malfunction at firts, and had to double check everything. He hit the light, and then decided he could not catch the bike, so gave up. The bike turned off, but then he later say the same guy going inthe opposite direction, so then pulled him over. I think they asked Honda if the bike could even go that fast, and Honda said top speed of that particular bike was 165 MPH. Anyway, I think that was how the story went.

Going at those speeds in a 2-wheeler like a bike, is literally courting disaster...

Are you guys for fukking real!!!

If your wife or other family member got killed from two people drag-racing and he/she just happened to caught in the middle, you are just going to sit back and chalk it up as DESTINY?????!!!!! I don't think so. Stop averting responsibility by defending this.

I can understand uncontrollable instances but NOT negligence. Gid forbid that happened to one of my family members, I swear whoever was responsible would pay with their life.

What about plane crashes? Would you say it was destiny if the pilot got drunk and passed out? I don't think so.
