I got a little P/O since they were talking shit about our TL. Mind you, I have beaten every GS300 I have raced against. Of course I know we can't beat the GS400/430 but the GS300 is easy for me.
I don't know about you guys but my TL pulls pretty hard all the way up to 130 mph before slowly pulling past 140 mph. I have gone up to 147 mph in my TL.
That TL driver probably didn't know how to drive or really wasn't racing.
Sorry guys for venting but I hate shit-talkers.

my dad has a GS430, we raced once and whooped the shit out of me.

 

Do not mess with the GS400/430 unless you have some serious mods.

But I have to agree that once I hit 4th gear around 100mph. The car slows down like a dog...

 

You da man, BlackShadow. The TL can hold its own against most if not all sport sedans. Once you start talking 540's, M5s and V-8s and stuff, that is definately out of our league. My whole arguement with the TL is that you can not get a better car for the money. Even if you are racing a GS300, that's like a 40K plus car. Give me a break. I guess if you got the cash, blow it on what you want.

I got pretty ticked off yesterday after some maxima owner was claiming that he "ate a TL Type S for breakfast." All BS. And the funny thing was that an Accord V6 owner who is a moderator at was taking the most sh-t!

BTW, they were pretty cool about it and actually welcomed me. I was very surprised because I thought they were going to go crazy on my post.

So IMO, I really think only the Maxima and IS300 people flame.

Hey BlackShadow, I thought u handled yourself very well over there. As one of their own said, some people like some cars, & some don't. Well, I can't stand the look of the whole GS seriers cars. They look like BOXES? I first saw the style on the Toyota Avalon cars. IMHO, UGLY. Fast is one part of a true ownership experience, looks are another. I don't see many GS300's around, but they look pretty good. I know that if some Lexus people come in here & read this, they'll be Flames, but I don't care. I think the GS's are BUTT ugly. Also, Lexus is to good to open a dealership here in Colorado Springs. Every other type cars is here, & have been for a long time. C/S is one of the fastest growing area's in CO, yet they make you go to Denver 2 see their cars. Well, NOT ME, & probably never will. Keep up the good work & LONG LIVE the TL!

well, we should all drive in sportshift mode and gear down one or two when racing at high speed. the tranny computer isn't smart enough to do it, so... I've had no problem beating with GS300's or IS300's either at light or on highway since I use sportshift all the time.

HOLY SH!T. I just left the Lexus forum and I have never heard more sh!t talked in my life. These guys think they are driving a car straight from GOD's right hand. They talk so much sh!t about other cars it's ridiculous, but they have a special venom for ACURAS. I like the GS4 it is truly a beast but give me a freakin break, don't trash Acura. Blackshadow you are the fu##$#king man, I saw you sticking up for Acura big time in a sea full of haters, and only when you checked them on it did they start to back off a bit. They refused to accept that the GS3 get's sent to it's room by TL (we won't even mention the type S). I like good war stories kill or whatever but they go overboard, according to them they beat every car under the sun. Once again if you didn't go to the forum and see the two separte topics about killing Acuras leave Blackshadow alone he represented Acura like a motherf@#$@er. Blackshadow you da man baby!!!

Yes I think I was the first to welcome BlackShadow as we appreciate the diverity at ClubLexus.

BlackShadow came respectfully and we respect his opinion and defending his car (I would too)

You will notice at CLubLexus, smack talking is there but rarely and we speak from experience, not blatant disrespect to other cars.

There are many ClubLexus members whose other vehicles are not Lexus vehicles (well not me) so it is hard to flame.

Besides the Big Dogs over there don't play that crap!

I will NEVER EVER understand how u can compare the GS 300 to a TL, facts are the TL is fast, type-s faster but for those who have never driven yet owned a GS, there is a reason it costs a whole lot more.

Mainly it is it's own model and shares nothing with ANY toyota, you can feel the difference or something is wrong with u.

But the GS is a better car simply cause IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE, if it were not we'd be idiots for buying an iferior built 45k-55k car.

The 2nd gen. TL (we won't even bring up the 1st) is a great car IN IT's CLASS (ES 300/Auora/I 30/Millinia/Diamante/300 M)simply cause it is a WHOLE lot cheaper.

But do not put down the GS 300 cause it is not as fast as the TL, it is catered to a different buyer (and well worth every penny)

I like this forum and I Love CLUBLEXUS, people will always have opinions and WILL defend their car, that is expected.

But do not get angry if we state why we do not like or would not reccommend the TL okay

hey not everybody is a racer, so if anyone thinks they can beat another person, good for u.

I might just be crusing in my TL at 80 mph, and some punk kid in a civic could fly by me at 100mph. Did he just have a kill against a TL? no...I wasn't even in the race to begin with. I cruise regularly at about 65-75 mph on highways. I don't do more then that in my TL. At work its a different story with the rentals, especially if were late to a delivery.

Dude, let it go. Each car has it's own merits in different categories. I know the guy on clublexus who you feel was badmouthing the TL and he is pretty young, like in his teens or at the oldest 21. He's actually very funny on other posts, I would not take anything on these forums seriously or personally.

I own an IS300 and people talk all sorts of trash about my ride and the TL and whatever. I'm sure a bunch of rednecks on the Camero forum are bad mouthing ALL imports right now.

And again, getting back to this discussion of whose ride can "kill" the other, a lot of it depends on driver skill as well. I personally had a very sobering experience this past weekend, when a '02 Altima with manufacturer plates, blew me away on the 110 North in L.A.!

On top of that, that same day I was on my way to meet some folks from the WRX forum, and we did a little Santa Clarita canyon run, and let me just say forget the GS', IS', S4's and the BMW's, if you want something to fear, fear a '02 WRX sedan with a 5 spd stick, and a driver who knows how to effectively drive an AWD beast.

My ride was left for dead out there, I my head starting filling with ideas of installing superchargers, and a diet for my ride, and hmmm, how to get awd? Well, needless to say, I think I need to buy something else!

Enjoy your ride, and if others want to rag, let them flame on, you can always give them a sobering jolt of reality in the real world when they pull up next to you.

why doesn't our TL have the push in high speeds? with 260hp u'd expect a lot in a car.
If we beat these cars from 0-60 and till 100...we would pulled ourself some distance from them no?

It's not like if we lose in high-speeds then we lose all the time. Yah from 0-60 I can beat all those cars, but it's not enough to pull some big distance that once we go past 100mph we're too much ahead.

It's the transmission gearing that's killing our top speed. The 4th gear overdrive (don't even talk about the 5th) doesn't give much power, not even with 260hp.

i guess, race on the street! that way we win most of the time against those cars.
