Check Engine and P1399

This has been happening for a few weeks, the motor is stumbling a bit at idle and doesn't feel as strong... I put in a tank of Shell super, ran a can of Seafoam (Oh BOY the smoke!) and the check engine went away when I erased the codes, only to return the next day. Clear the codes and the car runs well for the day, then the check engine light comes on again...I will probably get a new coil pack and begin the swap, check, swap, check until I find the culprit...
Sound like a good plan?

I'd get new spark plugs too while doing the coils...

Well I took the intake off, the EGR port was almost completely clogged, what a mess. a couple of cans of Brake Clean and a toothbrush and I got 99% of the junk out. Buttoned her up and went for a spin. The car stumbled a bit and the 'engine' light flashed for a couple of seconds then went away, so faf so good...fingers crossed that the car is okay...
