hi guys,

my friend's 99 TL (75,000 miles) got the check engine light and tcs light come on at the same time while driving on the highway, brought it to the local shop and the code said something about "transmission malfunction", i wasn't there so i dunno the exact code number, in any case, the shop couldn't find anything wrong... any ideas guyz? should he juss bring it to an acura dealership? also when i pop his gear in reverse, it jumps quite a bit, is this a sign of a slipping tranny?...

now my 99 TL (103,000 miles) got the check engine light come on also, code P0420, bank 1, threshhold below limit, my shop says it's about $1,000 to change all the sensors... is this right?... i'm about to juss leave it like this, will this be horrendous for my car or juss kill my gas?...

any help would be greatly appreciated! thanx!

 

id bring it to the dealer. if there is something tranny failure related its under warranty

 

yo man same shit with me... on monday... same exact thing- TCS light and chek engine light... and shortly after my tranny bleww. So i took it over to ACura i should be gettn my car back tomorrow afternoon...

but i gota say, RAllye acura has been the biggest bitch this week.. MOtherfuckers didnt call me back or anything to let me know ANYTHING at all.. i been caling them everyday and he still dont tell me shit i have to ask him all the qustions that stupid fuckin twat

whoa, so yer tranny died after after that TCS and check engine light came on!?~?! how soon after, and do u know what code it got from the diagnostic, thanx!

anybody know the consequences of not changing a faulty O2 sensor?... besdies worse gas mileage... thanx!

 

oh, i thought only the 2000+ TL's had the extended warranty to 100,000, cuz of that tranny recall... it includes 1999 also?

 

If your in L.I. u gotta try Acura of Valley Stream - nicest people and best prices even gave me a loaner car for a 45,000 mile service and i didnt purchase my car from them..

that or Competition Acura in Smithtown

 

i had those exact problems, my fuel controller went, so i had to replace it, but thats emission related.

yeah i had some really crappy service at my dealer too. the service wasnt too great at all. they didnt even call when they were done, i actually callled them and they told me that they were done a few hours ago and i could pick it up.. then when i get there, my ignition switch was mesed up so they had to change that out because they didnt connect something right when they replaced tranny..

oyeah and now my tranny is leaking so i have to take it back and get it replaced again, except i dont want to because i cant trust them anymore and im gonna miss my TL too much again. this tranny problem is getting really out of hand especially with the dealer service guys..
