Question Check Engine Light keeps coming on

I own a 99 TL (stock). During the past 8 months, the Check Engine light/malfunction indicator has gone off three times. Every time I bring it into the dealer, they can't find anything wrong and just reset the light. Anyone else have that problem?? or is it just me?? I have noticed something funny with my fuel gauge as it never seems to accurately reflect how much gas I have in the tank (gauge seems to drop alot at times). This seemed to happen during the past month or so before the light went off again this past week. Any relation?? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

The check engine light comes on when the computer senses a problem in the emission system. It usually means that a O2 sensor needs to be replaced. If you have another dealer in the area try taking it there next time the light goes on, maybe they will identify a problem.

thanks for the reply 99WDP, my warranty is up so do you know by any chance how much it would cost for a new O2 sensor?

The fuel gauge is a TSB from Acura. Take it in. They will replace the sending unit for you.

As far as the check engine light, it could be a million things. They need to hook up their computer to your car and get the failure code. Can't believe they haven't done that already.

Not sur if this could be it, but on the gas cap it states to tighten the cap to "clicks" or the check engine light may come on.
Try it, it may be an easy fix.

The government requires that emissions systems be warranteed for a certain amount of time. I don't remember if it is 50K miles or more. It would be worth looking into.
