Is it best to do it while the engine is cold? How much do i have to torque the bolts?

I compared the old one with this one and there was no build up whatsoever.
I'm not saying that i gained the same hp that headers would give but, there's definitely better throttle response at low end.I also added the spacer.

I will port match the IM and install UD pulley and then headers but before I do all this i'll probably change the mufflers and remove the pre muffler. Maybe i'll just change the IM...

A tooth brush and some carb cleaner would have removed any buildup.

Throttle body cleaner is a better choice. Carb cleaner might remove the coating on the throttle body (if one existed).

true but most carb cleaner now is also for fuel injection as well which will work just fine. Sea foam works too. Any thing designed for cleaning carbon buildup should work.

Speaking of TB. I know for my '89 5.0 PONY they make larger TBs for better air intake. Is there that same availablity for the TL-S? I haven't seen any threads on here that mention larger heads, injectors, fuel rails/pumps, fuel pressure regulators, advanced/retarded timing, msd type ignition, or cams? Am I missing something or is the good-old-fashion motorhead stuff not applicable/available for our TL-Ss?
Apologize for post-whoring!

I see superchargers referenced on the site; are the stock TBs/heads/intake truly effective in delivering enough air to justify the expense of a SC?

they're fine, but if you want more power obviously you can bore out the TB, port the heads, etc etc etc

when i removed th TB,there was a "spacer" that was screwed to it. Do i need to add it to the other TB I added? It's made of the same material the tb is made of.

I just bought a can of GUMOUT Carb & Choke Cleaner. On the back label, it clearly states "Not recommended for fuel injected vehicles. Use GUMOUT Air Intake and Throttle Body Cleaner instead." So, while carb cleaner might remove the carbon, there's also that possibility that it may cause damage to the coating on the throttle body. You can take your chances, but the few extra dollars for the correct product is a small price to pay compared to the consequences.

Note i said most. Ones that don't say it i wouldn't use. I guess i should edit my post to reflect that, but was hoping that most would understand its carbon cleaner designed for fuel injection (since thats what our motors run) i was referring to

Yes. Of course doing port and head work would be a good thing, its not necessary unless your out for every last drop of HP
