Changing alarm's red LED to a blue LED..

Hi

i wanna change the red alarm led in the driver side door to a blue led. i found the instructions to remove the door panel, now i need to know what ill have to do to install the new LED.. im not using a LEd made only for automotive use so i guess ill have to use a resistor (just like for the vtec led project) of 330ohms..

if i do that will the led work??

thx

Actually i already did this, its no big deal tp yank the old LED, just gotta be careful with that solder iron. I used a simple 12 volt all purpose LED, cause thats whats in there now. The little circuit board already has the resistors on it. Direct swap! Looks good too... red = yuck.

ok so i just have to buy a regular blue LED (i dont need a blinking LED because the circuit make it blink) and it's a direct swap! that's cool

you dont need a resistor cus the led circuit running the red led is already limiting the current so just get any blue led, i suggest a wide angle 5mm led

Yah, 5MM wide angle. I couldent find any cheap ones at Radio Shack so a local little shop had them in bulk, about $2 a piece...

Isn't blue a little hard to see under certain lighting conditions?
