My problem is the rear view mirror is broken....... only attached to the car by wires....

If anyone knows the best way to pull it apart, that would help too, because I'm a little nervous about just grabbing a flathead screwdriver and trying to pry it apart.

not sure exactly what you mean, but the way i took my mirror out was by removing the screws for the sunglass/ homelink console and unplugged it. Next i gripped the mirror and started to wiggle it downwards towards me and out it went. BTW, there is a thread if you search for it on how to get a free replacement on it and also another diy. Becareful removing the mirror, i read about how people broke their windshiled trying to remove the mirror. Good Luck.
