Is there any advantage to a CF hood except for looks?
The only possible thing I can think of is the reduction in weight would help acceleration... but that's a strech.
Thanks,
Joe

well..cf hood is more than 50 percent lighter than the factory hood.. it used to have a good purpose until civics, celicas, accord coupes, sentras, corrola S's, neons, focuses, eclipses, jettas, golfs, select mustangs, etc.. started using them for ricey appearance (I dont know if it was meant to, but its a rice thing to do now!).

personally i'm a fan of the CF hoods for weight reduction purposes. i'm *not* a fan of the way they look. i would be more inclined to buy one, prime it and paint it to match my car. but that's just me. i don't know much about working with CF anyway, so i don't even know if it could be painted.

CF hoods are for civics or tuners man. You have a TL. Touring Luxury, should have gotten a Civic.............. oh and CF hoods on black cars just looks like your hood faded to a non-knowledgable person(most people)

it all really depends on the car, i do agree cf hood on a tl doesnt really match, but trying new things to see the outcome. our cars our luxury/sport cars it wouldnt look good on a 3 series either but when the 3 series it modded to max inside/out the cf hood would compliment the look.

CF hoods look really good on black cars. Black's about the only color that they always look good on no mater what car its on.
I have to agree that there isn't much of a performance benefit, not even the reduced weight is going to do much. But then again there isn't much of a performance benefit to anything we do to our TL's (NA TL's at least). Think about it, is the added 3WHP gain really the driving force behind us wanting a cat back exhaust or the 5 from a CAI? No. but it is part of it. I mean come on guys lets be real aesthetics is what its all about, there is a certain look that everyone is going for and if it's to make your TL into a more aggressive four door sedan then the CF hood, hyper black wheels, and blacked out headlamps is going to get you there pretty fast. That might not be your cup of tea but hey, to each his own. Right?
FYI: I worked for Honda back in '96-'97 and when they were releasing the new line of Acura’s -- CL, TL, and RL -- the "L" stood for "Legend" not "luxury".

Just saw a CF hood on a Black CL today. It looks nice, but my friends said it looks stupid/pointless. But hey, if you got the money i say do it. Too bad i didnt have my phone with me to take a picture. At night, you can't see too much of a difference but I thought it looked nice. Looks is just a personal preference, some people like it, others don't. It's really up to you
