Post Center Console & Excessive Brake Dust

Has anyone else had problems with the center console coming unlatched very easily. The top part is okay...but when I open the second part (to the bin) sometimes the cheesy latch won't hold and it keeps popping open. Acura could have done a little better designing the center console. My brother-in-laws 2001 Honda is better designed than this one. All it is is a piece of plastic cut out and the latch is supposed to grab and hold on to it.
Also, does anyone notice excessive brake dust on the rear back panels. After driving a few miles, I noticed it because I ran my finger over the back panel and it was black! Is this something that will eventually go away? I have about 700 miles on my car.

Hello Gabriela,

For the center console mine is tight, no sound. You should take it to the dealer so they can fix it.

For the brakes, mine too has black dust. It is actually the brake pad friction. I think it is normal. Every car that have Brake Disc have this.

Bye.

Try switching to the Carbon composite brake pad. They give more stopping power than stock, while maintaining very low brake dust compared to stock.

Not excessive brake dust. In fact the TL's wheel is the best alloy wheel I ahd encountered.

The first month or two I had a LOT of brake dust, and couldn't help thinking that this car was going to be a nightmare. Then the dust suddenly stopped, and I haven't had a noticeable amount of dust now for almost 2 years.

The console thing should be easily corrected by the dealer. If they can't fix it they'll replace it. It shouldn't work that way.

I have the same problem with my console opening up. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the latch. Guess what one day later the same thing started happening again. I will be taking it back to them again this week.
