Cell Phone Interferience

Hey guys, I have a question: right now i own a '95 Mercury Tracer (woohoo) and im running my iPod through the tape adaptor. But when im in the car and my iPod running, I get that crazy phone interference sound (buzzzz click click click buzzzzzz) Im wondering if i am going to expereience this when i get my '00 Acura TLP. Anybody have any comments? If you have expericnced this, how do i fix it?

By the way, I plan on running the blitzsafe adaptor for my iPod, once the acura arrives.

thanks fellas.

Yes, it is actually the interferance coming through the speakers themselves. When you get the TL, it will still be there when your stereo is on and you are on the phone. You can just turn off the radio while on the phone or not talk while driving is the better option.

Ditto here too. If you plan on keeping the factory Bose stereo, you will receive interference. I used to put my cell phone under the change bin and had terrible speaker hiss and pop, but when I moved the phone to the cupholder, the hiss and pop subsided.

It is even more evident throught the tape deck adapter. The cord acts as an antenna and the signal is then transmitted to the tape deck head, then out to the speakers. This happened in my old Taurus all the time, but only with the cassette adapter being used.

I also get interference with cell phones in my 02 TL (and I dont use a cassette adapter). Funny thing is it is only with my friends phone. My phone has been issue free.

Best thing to do is not talk and drive - or you'll see me pass you with my finger out the window! J/K...
but people do tend to forget how to drive while on the phone. Not all, just some.

Does your phone have the GPS feature turned on for 911? That might do it. You may also try moving the phone as far from the deck as possible. like in the door pocket or something

You know, im not sure about the whole GPS thing. Its a Nokia phone w/ att service. It does quiet down a little bit when i move it far away. but sometimes i have to hold it out the window to make it quiet down when it goes into one of its fits. It will have these fits of about 10-12 seconds every couple of minutes. wierd huh?

I don't think it's service specific since I experienced the same interference with a Motorala and Nokia phone on TDMA AT&T service and now with Samsung phone with GSM service. I think the electronics in Bose HU is sensative to external electronic device.

but nextela usually happens every time. whether your at home listening to music on ur comp, and the phone rings... its still happens. i've had a lot of phones in the past and many different services and nextel does it all the time, everywhere, even in other peoples cars

it should happen wether youre on the phone, or not. wether the tape deck is in or not it will happen.the only way it wont happen is if your phone, or the radio is off.

yeah, mine too, when its about to ring or recieve a text message, the tv goes crazy and in my car, the radar decetor goes off. It never did this with my old phone, so i might try to go back to another brand....its worth a shot.
