The NF Sonata project was initiated back in 1998, when the SIXTH generation Accord came out. The seventh and current generation Accord wasn't even conceived back then.
In my opinion, nobody really stole anything. These are two cars that are marketed toward the same group of consumers, following the same design trend. And they just happened to end up with similar designs. But if you REALLY wanted to get technical about it, the Sonata project was started much earlier, so they deserve the credit for that design trend, not Honda.

Alabama doesn't get much snow, if any, as far as I know. Plus I don't really like SUVs. The Sonata will do.

Alright, you're gonna be a hick. PA is set on a Sonata, there's no persuading him otherwise. Now the question is, can you survive the southern summer heat and red dirt?
BTW, what's your new role in Hyundai-ville?

You are going from what might be a supercar (considering all the mods and investment) to a "fully loaded sonata"?
This has to be a joke.

Sorry to see you selling your car. What will your position be at Hyundai?
I'm looking at a Sonata as well, for myself. However, the transmission is a bit funky for my tastes as there seems to be a lag in SS mode, and it seems to downshift a bit more than I'd like. But still, the car is a great value but I'll always be second guessing myself and dealing with the perception problem.

So I want to get a Hyundai vehicle, that really can't be changed at this point.
Good luck with everything, man.

I always thought you had one of the nicest 2G's going, and your posts were always informative...both will be missed (and I'm sure not just by myself). Hyundai's are good cars...my friend has a Santa Fe with over 120k miles, and it's still going great...the new Sonata looks good (those pics of modded ones are pretty slick, too). Good luck with the new job and car!

ALL: I'm positive Pure Adrenaline will still be around here with his advice. He's ripped his car apart plenty of times to provide insight into helping others. BTW, Pure Adrenaline is Korean so of course his loyalties lie with his homeland. It's no different than Americans are about the good ol' USA. And because he is Korean, it's obvious that he has to "roll" in a Hyundai. Most Americans don't understand the importance of 'saving face' in front of your employers ... especially for an Asian employee to an Asian employer. Read the book (Michael Crichton) or watch 'Rising Sun' (Sean Connery / Wesley Snipes) to get an idea of what I'm talking about ...
To the Hyundai haters out there ... don't kid yourselves. Hyundai is Toyota's biggest threat. Never underestimate your opponent and if you look at their current products and their upcoming products, most of your comments about quality, etc. are indeed quite unfounded. Those comments are exactly the same ones Americans once said of Japanese cars not too long ago (eg 'Jap crap').
But this is an Acura site -- of course we're gonna bash the competition.
PS PA -- does that mean we have a free place to crash in Alabama???

If you are ever in Montgomery, come on over. Get a tour of the factory, and you can crash at my place, sure.

Well, you've gotta hold down the fort now, I guess.
dalieu -- Yeah, it's kind of a pain in the butt. Total opposite of "keeping up with the Joneses." But I really can't complain.

Congrats man, its the only move you can make it seems. Ive read nothing but good stuff about the newer hyundai cars--anyone who says they are crap is just thinkin about the name 10 years ago. they have won all kinds of accolades recently, and the company is on the up and up big time IMO. the only downfall is the stigma attached to the name--but even the almight jap cars had that when they were first produced. not to mention those cars modded can look VERY pimp--that car has quite a decent following in japan. i believe junction produce (very high end japanese tuner) makes a body kit for it. good luck with the new job and car dude. if i remember didnt you recently have to buy the car out of a lease for a high price?? if so, that kinda sucks, but what can you do?

Hey Man i live in Georgia an i have been to Hyundai Plant in Alabama, There alot worker that drive different make of car beside Hyundai. If your going be 1 of the TOP DOG them yes, you sure drive Hyundai. GOOD LUCKY on your new car. ALSO HYUNDAI has came long way from them OLD Run down models. I think now any Hyundai 2K up are well build an made.

From the reviews I've been reading, Hyundai has some excellent cars in their lineup. But there's still the lasting taint of the garbage cars they built years ago. Maybe they would be better off shaking their old associations by using a new name like Goldstar did by adopting the name LG for appliances and electronics.

AWW man you will be missed PA. i wish you the best at your future career. the Sonata does not look too bad if you look from the front it actaully reminds me of an Audi. the older style ones not the new style with the grill that goes all the way down. but it looks like a pretty sweet car. i cant believe i said that but from the pics shown above. not too shibby. good luck in your future endevor and maybe one day you will come back with another acura/honda. wish you the best. !!

I had a rental Sonata for two weeks while Nalley Collision took forever to replace the headlight and bumper cover that my dumbass neighbor ran into. Although the car was competent, I hated it compared to my TL. A V6 might have helped, but Hyundai just doesn't have the driving dynamics down yet like Honda/Acura. Plus the seats were terrible.
As for national pride, I'm an American and I'll be goddamned if I ever drive another POS Detroit product. Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus for me. Although they have improved over the years, no other manufacturer is even close in quality as far as I'm concerned. Personally, I wouldn't give up my TL.
